Haha crazy

I did the same to a duck many years back, and more recently to a beautiful leg of pork. I saved the pork, but the resulting bbq fire distorted the shape of my (now very very clean) weber Q!

Want to put out a BBQ fire quickly? Use salt. I have bottle of cheap table salt by the BBQ. Sprinkling / throwing some on the fire will kill it quickly. Pity about the burnt food though

Tip of the year !

Salt has a high specific heat capacity, absorbs heat energy without significantly increasing in temperature. Science rules

salt … without significantly increasing in temperature
I have seen salt "increase the temperature" of someone with high blood pressure !

I noticed there is far less meat on a duck compared to a chicken of the same weight. Ducks have insanely high fat content in their skin!

Catch the duck fat, then cook your roast potatoes in it. Thank me later.
Edit: Colesworth were selling luv-a-duck breast portions. They looked to be about 50% fat. We passed on these and got organic duck breast from our local market. Much better fat to meat ratio.

You can also make great caramel from duck fat :-)

Wow….price is up up up~

Better than the Pepe's brand ducks at Woolies.
Fyi these are regularly 40% off at Coles IME.

Can get a fully cooked roast BBQ duck from Asian BBQ shops for between $30-$40.

Once I bought one of these to cook Peking style on a rotisserie in the barbecue. It was going well until the tray I'd put underneath ignited and burnt the poor duck black!
Anyhow, there's a cautionary tale for any purchasers. Lots of potentially flammable fat if you're not careful, like me.
