  • Noob q but what nbn speed plan benefits with the 6ghz wifi frequency? I believe i currently only have 2.4 and 5ghz frequency

    • +2

It's more about "what devices do you own that can even connect with 6ghz?"
Personally, it's one mobile phone and no laptop/tv/console/desktop/other device.

    • 1000mb 5ghz doesn't really get up to those sort of speeds from my experience. I have 5ghz and my devices top out at around 700mbps, most are 200-400mbps though. but not many are able to reach that speed due to their hardware I'm guessing.

      • Thats why i dropped the nbn speed to 250

        • It's probably the sweet spot for most users that like to stream 4k video. I'm waiting for the plans to change and will probably move to 500mbps.

I can get 900+ speeds on my phone with 6GHz when closer, just speed tested at my room now, 6GHz was around 650 and 5GHz was 440. These are with S23U and S22 (no 6GHz). But I can reach around 600 on 5GHz with my WAX206 backhaul. All depends on MIMO, channnel bandwidths etc.

      • I run a 5ghz wifi mesh, with 160MHz… and get 950mbps down

      • +2

Probably because you're using 2x2 devices on an 80mhz channel. 4x4 and 160mhz will blow right past that

    • The backhaul benefits - traffic between nodes. And keep on mind that actual speeds don't usually approach theoretical advertised speeds.

There’s a ~$11 USB Wifi adapter you can add to get a further 20% off taking to just under $300 total.
Not sure if it’s any good, but under $300 for a wifi 7 mesh network is a good deal on paper.

    • i also used that wifi adapter to reduce my be9300 router to $175

  • Anything I should note on these vs like tp link be11000?

  • +1

This isn't half bad. They come with three 2.5G WAN/LAN ports so you can use them as wired access points and have two spare 2.5G ports on each one.

Only setup via android or iOS.
No web interface config at all.
No Security updates in a year since initial release.

    Would avoid.

    • LOL. If you want security updates you'd best just stick to Cisco or HP.

      • Yeah why would you want security updates for a device that's always on….

    • Lol wait what??! No web interface?

I havent looked to much into these mesh packs, but surely that's like a standard feature on most?

      • Not on this one mate, in terms of configuration anyway. They also have no intention of ever providing one for this model.

        • What are your thoughts on this compared to TP-Link be11000… Currently using an Asus router, which has a ton of config options, but all I really use is port forwarding.

          • @GuniGuGu: I have th be1100 just haven't setup yet. Once I do I will let you know this evening.
