  • The AC240's deals are pretty decent.

Cover everything you could run off 10A, and has a boost mode for 15A appliances (rarely wired to an actual plug socket though) if need be.

    • +3

Power lifting mode is only for resistive type appliances. So it will work for a kettle, toaster or non-electronic hairdryer, but it won't work for a microwave, induction stove or anything with electronics.

      • I never knew this. Why is this the case?

        • It is how it was designed to work. It reduces the supplied voltage so that the overall power drawn still stays within the limits of the power station.

ecoflow river 2 is better than bluetti ac2a
    in many many ways
    1. constant charge speed that's much higher from ac.
    2. app has much much much more advanced controls. including charge and discharge schedules (simple hour based), dc charging limit. Max/min state of charge for charging and discharging
    3. includes car chargers
    4. you can tell it to turn ac on when it turns on. so ups mode means everything gets power again when mains power is restored
    5. ac output even though battery is barely charged while ac is plugged in. bluetti literally refused to turn on ac output until it was 1% charged. even then, it actually didn't charge and instead went to 0% eventually and powered off
    6. more efficient ac inverter
    7. bluetti app allows anyone in Bluetooth range to control your battery without authentication
    8. bluetti seems to enforce 90% max depth of discharge

    I'm returning my ac2a. it's crap
i expect the other models to be just as crap

AMA about comparing the two. i still have them until i get my rma sorted.

      • What about the Bluetti A240 range vs EcoFlow (probably the Delta series though for similar capacity)?

        • +1

          ah good question
          i dont know
i dont have enough money to buy those two and compare

i wouldn't expect their app to have the advanced featurs the ecoflow one has

the bluerti app. once you log in is actually spammy . dont log in. theres no benefit

        • AC240 is IP65 rated, so can be used outdoors in the rain. But compare the specs for both with regards to power and capacity, before you decide.

Also, Ecoflow models all have pass-through charging.

No other brands have pass-through at the River/2 Wh range competing with Ecoflow.

Even some of the bigger batteries (1500Wh+) from Bluetti and other brands don't have pass-through.

      • ac2a does have ac passthrough charging. but it didnt work when the battery has low charge. it appears that the passthroughness is part of its charging limit.

river2 has ac passthrough from any charge level. it does this by consuming additional power above its current ac charge limit

    • On the plus side for AC2A it specs a faster switch over time for using as a UPS, < 20ms vs 30ms for River 2.

The bigger difference is price, got one at $179 and seems like a bargain, turned down the charge speed, turned off bluetooth. Can use a smart plug to schedule charge/discharge.

yep. but once your power goes out fully and battery is depleted, you need physics intervention to flick the ac back on.

and if you flick it back on too early, it actually wont charge.

but yes at the special price it might be worth it. but. i wanted it as a ups and im most annoyed about the lack of ac-resume

        • Cancelled based on your wisdom.

          • @Yebro: How did you cancel? I want to cancel as well but I cant find any option to cancel the order

        • I think only the latest unit that Bluetti has launched has AC resume (Elite 200 V2).

      • Just wondering what the consequence of having a 20ms vs 30ms switch over time for ups purposes would be?

    • The ecoflow river 2 is $449, "down from $649".

So a fairer comparison is the Bluetti EB3A ($499 or less) which is superior in many ways. It has 600W output vs ecoriver's 300W, and has wireless charging on top and fold-down handle vs the ugly sticking-out handle on the ecoriver. Better and clearer display on the EB3A. It's a bit bigger and heavier but not by much.

It's better to use a UPS battery dedicated to that job, than a "portable camping battery" for your home UPS needs. For computer UPS the main job is to allow you to shut down properly. It's not meant to be about giving you hours of gaming time during a blackout. Regarding the app, I have no need or wish to use annoying apps with these batteries, I want them to work without an app, and that's exactly the EB3A.

"includes car chargers"… LOL, a bonus cable. Like getting a free spoon with your tub of ice cream.

      • river2 atl is $329
i was gonna use ac2a with an ups so I'd get more battery runtime.

  • also they've been having flash sales the whole month.

    absolutely nothing flashy about it

    • Best sale was last year's Prime day sale.

I thought these guys were banned for sockpuppeting? I couldn’t cost a $179 AC2a deal a few weeks ago

  • Ahh ill give bluetti a go. Bought the a60 plus the extra battery for 999. Steep price, but i hope it will give a better experience than the $269 yardforce.
    Thanks OP

    • The AC60 and B80 are good units. They are rain/splash proof, actually rated IP65, so you can use them outdoors too without issues. They are part of the newer 2024 range, so they also have features that the older Bluetti powerstations do not have.
