I've got the aeropex model, they're a good headset, I don't think they're a $270 headset. Got a pair for a friend so she could still hear her kids while on the phone. I use mine for running, cycling, showering and on very hot days they're much nicer than my ear-muff sony XM3s. My model has developed the 'rattle' in one side, it's kind of annoying but it is what it is, they're out of warranty. Mine were $199, four years ago (Nov 2020).

    • I've had my aeropex mini for a similar length of time and have also developed a rattle in the left side. The only fix I've been able to find online is drilling a small hole and then stuffing it with putty so there's no room for anything to move around.

    • Interesting. Bought mine on 25 June 2020. No rattling issues for me (*knock wood).

I use it a few times a week on my bike rides (and will be using it in the next 10mins during my lunch ride!).

I've had the Aeropex, the OpenRun Pro, and now OpenRun Pro 2 - their improvements are marginal at best. If you have an older model, don't feel obliged to upgrade. Neither the mic nor the sound quality is significantly improved in my opinion. It's better, sure, but not enough to warrant a whole new upgrade in my opinion. The USB type C in the latest model is the on biggest plus. This remains my most used headset - great for work / vid calls, on the bike, out and about in airports/trains IF you wanted to hear announcements.

    • Thanks for your opinion. I almost regretted after reading @timtam-slam comment. This is going to be my first shokz headset though. I hope it won't disappoint.

it's a great headset and worth it in my opinion, but if you had an older model it just wasn't worth upgrading is all.

        • For work / vid calls, what’s the feedback been from people on the receiving end re ambient noise coming through. Unless I’m on the plantronics, peeps are always whinging about background noise on my others - Bose, Sony, Beats, Apple, Edifier, Sennheiser lol yup got too many thanks to ozbargain

          • @ccrap: I can't say for absolutely certainly as I'm not on the receiving end but Ive always used these since 2020 and never had much complaints.. these are my primary headset for work-related vid/calls usually.

      • Has the Openrun mini for over a year and definitely my go to for everything everyday. Over ear ones hurts the top of my head if I wear it for more than 2 hours. In ear ones, the left side always falls off when I'm walking/running. I love the ones back in the 90s that just hangs on the outer ear, but they don't make them anymore.

Do note that if you plan on biking/running in these, even at max volume, it's difficult to listen to podcast in them if there's a lot of wind or traffic. For music, no problem.

i listen to a lot of podcast on my bike - it depends on the podcast, and even sometimes episode by episode of the same podcast.

some podcast are just louder than others - i usually have no issues unless its very windy, or im going very fast, or its a very busy road with lots of car traffic noise. on 90% of the roads/shared paths, they're alright for me. but sometimes i run into a specific episode and its softer than usual, and i cant hear anything =/

For those who are not aware, Catch will be closing in April and could complicate warranty issues a little.

    • Normally they use third party so should be okay.

argh - the Mini version is not available through Catch for this same price

I'm after the mini too. Lmk if you see any for a good price!

      • I contacted [email protected] and they offered to waive the $19 shipping cost by giving me a personalised discount code. So I've finally purchased them, paying $280.99. If you contact them they may do the same for you. I had an email conversation with Chloe . So only hassle going this way is missing out on the extra $10 discount from Catch.

  • I got these from the Qantas deal, and absolutely love them. In-ear I am constantly fiddling with, these just stay put and allow me to still hear my surrounds. I only wish that I had got the mini (I measured right on the maximum recommended, but I guess didn't account for having no hair).

  • Is it worth getting this for cycling or are there other models from shokz that are better?

    • This is the best model for cycling and running and general use at the moment.

Thanks for posting. I too was annoyed I missed the Qantas deal. Been resisting paying $300. Ok to pay $270 though.

My AfterShokz Aeropex have served me well for over 4 years however something has come loose in the right speaker and makes a tapping noise every step of my run.

    Looking forward to an upgrade.

I love my Aeropex and my Open Run Pro 2 mini. I got the OR2 at JB for $319 less 10% ($287.10) and then further claimed it on tax when I flew out in December so I think the overall cost was $255.20.
FYI if you can, get the mini if you have a choice. I have a large head and the mini fits beautifully and I can comfortably sit and lie down with it not shifting around due to the band in the back being pressed by a pillow.
