I have one of their dryers and it’s pretty good! Can also confirm than when I’ve called support, fisher and paykal manages the support and technicians.

    • +1

      Haier own Fisher & Paykel

We have one of their washing machines - and one of their dishwashers - and can't fault them so far.

I've had the 8.5kg model the last 14 months and it's been good. Notifications and control through the app can be handy

Purchased a Haier washing machines 12+ years ago and more recently (5 years ago). They have improved significantly.

My Haier washing machine is a case study in bad user design

    • turn on “end of clean cycle signal” AND “anti crease”? No probs, I’ll finish cleaning and idly tumble for ages until you come and press stop, at which point I’ll finally signal that I had finished cleaning an hour ago :/
    • unbalanced load error? Press pause, fix up the tangled wash load, but pressing pause again won’t work, turn it off and on again :/
    • 15 minute super fast wash cycle is super fast and handy except the clothes are soaking wet, need to run a 10 minute rinse program afterwards
    • 1 hour wash program is just an indication, come back in one hour to get another indication when I may or may not finish
    • it has beeping off by default, so I have to turn it back on every effin time (capacitive touch buttons so very finicky)

Apart from that, can’t fault it 😂

What has their service department said about all these issues?

    • +4

To be fair my expensive Bosch has most of these interface issues as well.

    • +7

1 hour cycles actually taking at least 1 hour and 20 minutes seems to be some sort of agreed upon industry standard though, for whatever reason. But I don't understand why they don't just say the real time from the start when it isn't ever going to be different. They aren't gaining more money by tricking people who only bought the machine because they thought the 1 hour cycle takes 1 hour.

      • +2

I think the timing is dependent on sensors and so is variable.

Coordinate with Apple support - It's User Error ;)

Do you say this brand name like Uncle Roger says 'Haiyaah' ?

    • +3

      it's more like higher

        Can I get a hooyah

        • +4

          Can we get much Haier?

When i first moved to Australia, i didnt realise none of the flats come with appliances if you wanna live on your own. Not knowing how long ill choose to stay in Australia, bought the cheapest washing machine and fridge i could find on appliancesonline. Both were haier. That was 9.5 years ago and both still going strong after moving three times.

Thanks for sharing this story Furio. I hope Tony is not still angry at you for leaving New Jersey abruptly.

      • +2

He might end up in the Haier if Tony reads this!

        • +2

          Quasimodo predicted all of this

I was in similar situation and bought used washer & fridge, $50 each. Both were working fine when we decided to get rid of them, washer was sold for $50, fridge was presented to an elderly neighbour who was super excited to receive it.

Contrary to the positive brand reviews, I had one of their dryers which barely lasted 1.5 years. It probably didn't get used more than twice per week if that.

After that one though, I decided buying the warranty upgrade for anything through appliances online seems pretty good value. 5 years total coverage for an extra $150ish means you can really buy any horrible junk brand you want to and still get a guaranteed 5 years of use of something out of the deal.

    • Bosch front loader purchased 2002 still going strong. Replaced 1 capacitor /filter thingy for $50 and thats been the only problem, Its only a series 4 I think not even made in Germany.
On the other hand our series 6 made in Germany Bosch dishwasher just had it's front display panel fail at 30 months old! Fortunately no /dramas getting it fixed under warranty even though its nominally 6 months outside the 24 months

  • Tossed a chinese made miele on the nature strip because the 1200 rpm spin cycle only worked on a 2 hour cotton wash. The things they dont tell you in the store……..

    • With Haier, the spin cycle only goes up to 1400rpm if you don't choose the eco saver option.

      • Awesome. Cheers

Whilst reliability is an important element, I find shopping for washing machines really difficult because you can't really try before you buy.

Having bought recently (I got the LG WV9-1610, which is the top CHOICE recommendation), the key things to think about are probably:
    * Water and energy efficiency - Given that you are probably going to use this machine for at least 7 years (which is around the average amount of time before serious issues arise with washing machines), even if it's cheaper to start with it might be more economical in the long run to get a slightly more expensive and efficient model.
    * Cycle times and cleaning effectiveness - Some washing machines are quicker than others, which can save you time - worth thinking about. Some washing machines also clean better than others. Problem is, you can't figure out either of these things until the thing is in your home.

I found CHOICE to be really helpful for this purchase in particular because of all the testing they do - I accessed it through my local library for free. Worth doing some research for an appliance you will probably have for a long time.

    • Totally agree with everything you have written. Salespersons know diddly squat.

  • Yes I'm sure someone out there has created a graph of energy/water usage vs time on 4 and 5 start machines. Wonder where the break even point is.

  • My Haier front loader has not skipped a beat since I bought it more than 5 years ago (knock wood).

  • Hair own Fischer and paykal

  • We've had this for about 2yrs or so and it's been great. Gets lots of use. Would definitely recommend at this price, which is $200 cheaper than what we paid.

  • Does this model have delayed start function??

    • Yes it does. But it doesn't seem to have a liquid detergent reservoir by the looks of it in the manual. So you'll have to use powdered to avoid the detergent seeping into the drum before the start of the cycle. Unless someone else knows if it comes with a reservoir?

      • +1

Pour liquid in the cap of the detergent bottle. Place cap on top of laundry.

        • +1

Then wake up just before the allocated start time and quickly run downstairs to the machine to fill the detergent draw with the liquid detergent in the cap?

          • @mordinhoz: No lol. place the cap, with the detergent in it, on top of your laundry (which is already in the washing machine). Don't spill the detergent, it stays in the cap. Close the machine and delay start. You wash the laundry with the cap in the machine. Do it all the time, works great.

            • +1

@wots: My mind just got blown lol haha

          • +1
      • I've been using the liquid detergent initially, didn't know it was an issue with delayed start.

        On powder now.

Delayed start is annoying to use. You need to turn the machine on manually, then press two buttons together until it is connected via wifi.

Then use the app on your phone to set the delayed start time.

        • That delay start process is a bit convoluted haha.

In the manual it advises to use powdered detergent when using delay start.

          • @mordinhoz: Good to know for future reference. I do that with my dishwasher, but somehow that commonsense eluded me for the washing machine.

I don't really have any fair comparisons, but it is leagues above the Aldi top loader it replaced. Much more efficient and actually cleans clothes thoroughly, and clothes come out much drier.

  • Have the 8.5kg model and pretty happy with it. Can’t figure out the wifi though.

    • Make sure your phone's adblocker is disabled when trying to pair it through the app.

  • damn, thats a good price. we just paid ~$1400 for a bosch 9kg. our previous bosch had its spider arm corrode and crack after 12 years of use

  • Not the same thing but I got a Haier french door fridge a few months ago and it's been nothing but a huge pain. Replaced twice in warranty which is good but even the replacement does not solve the problem fully.

Support is good but the product itself doesn't do the fundamental thing it's supposed to do - Keep things cool.

So even though this sounds like a great deal and I have to replace my washer, l don't think I can get another Haier.

  • Had one for a while now. Can't get the wifi to connect. Other than that, really good machine. Auto-dose is something I never thought I would appreciate so much.

    • +1

Make sure your phone's adblocker is disabled when trying to pair it through the app.

Auto-dose is good yeah, I like it too. But this feature (as well as UV sanitise) is for the .0kg models not the .5kg models of the OP.

      • You're right. They have two models pictured, one with and one without.

  • +1

Ive had this washing machine for 2 years now and its great, almost daily use and hasn't skipped a beat , have washed queen sized doonas & sheets without any issues also. Really great value for the price.

  • I bought the HWF10ANB1 (10kg model) for $757 from Good Guys, back in November 2024. Very happy with it so far, although being a front loader it takes longer than what I was used to with the previous Whirlpool SmartDrive top loader. The Haier has three compartments, one for liquid detergent (up to 750mL), one for powder and one for fabric softener. You can leave the liquid detergent in there for weeks and use the auto-dose function and let the machine figure out how much to add. Seems to work well enough for me and I can't see why it would not be suitable for delayed start since it does not leak into the machine. Unless of course the 9.5kg machine is significantly different, perhaps an older model being sold at a run-out price?

The UV sanitise function seems like a good idea, but It is hard to determine if it actually makes a difference.

    • This machine doesn't have auto dosing or UV.

    • Seems to work well enough for me and I can't see why it would not be suitable for delayed start since it does not leak into the machine.

Yeah even the manual says not to use liquid detergent when using delayed start which I don't understand because it has the reservoir. I suspect it was just copied from the manual of the non-autodosing models.

    • I believe sanitise is a longer and higher temp wash, no UV on the 9.5kg

  • Is the deal expired? The price is showing $792 for me
