no only air - as the name suggests

    • Ive done fish in breadcrumbs in this and it tasted really good.

    • It's a fryer, not a freezer ;)

I'll see your Phillips Air Fryer and raise you a Tefal Actifry for $1 extra

Saw a pile of them just before Christmas at my local Big W. Can't comment on the Phillips myself, but the reviews don't look encouraging.

I was trying to decide the 2 before I bought my Phillips Air Fryer. I went with the Phillips one cause it cooked quicker, uses no oil and didn't have that rotating arm inside that keeps turning the food over, which some reviews said food gets stuck under and breaks. Also reviews said the hinge on the lid breaks a lot.

Ive been happy with the Air Fryer but I wouldn't say the food is any better then traditional methods of cooking. Meat still looks to have fat dripping off it after but not as much as usual. You can see how much has come off while cooking in the tray and it is a lot. It is quick to cook but food needs turning over half way through or in the case of fries, shaken.

Keep in mind, if you are cooking for more then 2 people then this probably isn't big enough for you. If you lay meat on top of other meat then it wont cook fully.

  • Isn't 'frying' something in air just baking?

    • It sprays the food with oil as it cooks, just not as much as a deep fryer

      • Ive never noticed mine spraying oil before. Cant even see anywhere your meant to put the oil. Didn't see it mentioned in the instruction manual either.

  • Watched an episode of gadget man with Stephen fry the other night and he used one of these uses a teaspoon of oil.

      Does Stephen Fry use punctuation?

      • Sorry, couldn't help myself :)

this model is 9220/40 。 I got my 9225/50 ( includes the baking kit) from Nunawading Good Guys for 190 on 24th Dec. The ticketed "on sale " price was 210 but I told the sales that I would like to have it for 190. She then checked with her manager and the shop manager approved the deal.

you don't need to wait for the "sale" , just need to know how to bargain.

197 is not a good price in my opinion. A few months ago , target did it for 197 for the same model plus 10 bucks free gift card. The lowest price I heard for this model was 167

This is the older version I picked up newer version for $225 from good guys. It has silver handle

  • its called an oven, see kitchen

    • smaller and less power usage, Also quicker as less area to heat

      • yes but oven is already purchased and takes up no more room. Also find out how long it will take you to accumulate $200 in power bills for the "odd" times that you would use the AIIIIRRRR FRIIIIIIEERRRR, not worth it.

  • What a silly name for an appliance 'air fryer'. I just think of heat emanating from bitumen roads. Probably a good deal for anyone who is interested in such a thing.
