    Please mention OzBargain when booking.

    Teacher looks at child and then parents and then child again, rolls eyes.

    And OP is gone forever.

    • Hey @Lizard Spock & @spirrowhack

      Apologies for this. I'm new to this platform. We run two very different businesses and as a result wanted to make two accounts - which as a result closed our account.

      Would love to answer any of your questions :)

    Domain Name: ismturramurra.com.au
    Status: serverRenewProhibited https://identitydigital.au/get-au/whois-status-codes#serverR…
    Status Reason: Not Currently Eligible For Renewal

    Why would that be?

    • Hang on JV, there are rules relating to when you can renew your .au domain name. It's nothing to do with not being allowed to renew your domain name.
      Google.com.au has the same status code for example.

      serverRenewProhibited: This status indicates the domain has an expiry date that is more than 90 days away and therefore cannot be renewed at this time. When the domain enters the 90 day renewal period this status will be removed.

    Group classes like these have next to no educational value, it takes one on one classes to develop a strong discipline in an instrument. Students don't learn very much, and whatever they DO learn comes with bad habits that have to be undone later. Less than 25% of students who begin through keyboard classes are still studying piano after two years, because those formative years where they SHOULD be learning the foundations for mastery of the instrument are instead wasted.

    I had three siblings who each did four years of a similar keyboard class before their parents eventually decided to bring them to my studio. Two of the three dropped out within four weeks when they realised that they were essentially beginners (and being outplayed by kids five years younger than them) - the third, who started keyboard at 5, went from pre-Preliminary standard at 9 years old to completing her AMusA at 13 (and on track to complete her LMusA before she turns 15). If she had started with proper piano at 5 instead of keyboard classes, she'd probably be enjoying a concert pianist career by now. She's taking her own students now (under my supervision) - and her students get better value for money at the $60 she charges per hour than they ever would from keyboard classes… which cost the same $60 an hour.

    While it might sound counterintuitive, paying the $100+ an hour a GOOD teacher easily commands is absolutely the best OzBargainer "bang for buck" when it comes to learning the piano - because with a piano teacher we cover in individual classes in four weeks what keyboard classes cover in four YEARS.

      @letsgetquizzical

      Thank you for sharing your perspective. One-on-one lessons are excellent for developing technical skills and individual focus, but group keyboard classes serve a different purpose. They offer an engaging, social environment where young beginners can build foundational skills in music theory, rhythm, and ear training while fostering a love for music.

      Group classes are also more accessible for families starting their musical journey, and many students transition successfully to private lessons with a solid foundation. Both pathways have their merits, and the best choice depends on the child’s goals and circumstances. Ultimately, what matters most is inspiring a lifelong love for music in every child.

    Wow 1st post and the rep has done the old post and deactivate. I guess didn't want to hang around and answer any questions which is an odd decision given what the business does. Not really how OzB works.
