        Rolls Royce ancap rating: adequate.

      • +3

Rolls only need car passenger protection. The driver can be sacrificed. :)

        • and F the pedestrians, very fitting

          • +1

@May4th: Less than F. They won't give a F about any pedestrians or any pedestrian ideas. :P

    • obviously, since it's not in Australia yet. You can look to the current gen H6GT for reference which is 5*

  • +1

These use motors derived from Toyota NZ family.

  • +1

    Much sportier looking than BYD!

  • +1

Gotta love the "FREE" marketing. For something to be free, It means you should just be able to walk in, they hand it over without paying a cent and you walk away with said item. Instead you need to pay $53,990, to recieve the charger along with the car. That being said, looks to be a decent value deal.

  • -4

    HAVAL = rubbish imo
If you're going to get something like that, get a BYD, a billion times better!

    • +2

GWM/HAVAL is actually the Toyota of chinese vehicles.

      MG/SAIC not so much.

      • +7

Yep, Toyota, while being excellent cars, are massively overpriced in Australia.

        • +7

          Yep,

How to sell cars in Australia 101.

Engineer an extremely reliable engine in the 2000's
Sell it in huge quantities and don't innovate on it for years whilst keeping the same bland interiors.

          Profit.

Basically Australians just want something that works and will get them from A-B with minimal fuss.

    • Care to elaborate on how and why BYD are “a billion” times better?

      • Personal opinion is all - more advanced tech, better value, newer platform, bigger company with more R&D research etc

  • +1

Already discounted as it's released lol

  • +3

@shxhshzhz Not uncommon for a first edition. You should look up the presale discount for the original Toyota GR Yaris!

    • Big difference is that I'll bet that not one single person regretted buying the Yaris GR on presale. First Edition Chinese car? Yeah nah, not so much…

  • +4

    lol
Chinese are on a relentless onslaught with nowhere left for others to hide.

    • +3

Yep. It's more than just car industry too. It's soft power. I've never seen Chinese manufacturing and export discussed as positively as it is currently, not have I personally thought so well of it. But the fact is they are doing a good thing while traditions car brands have been caught with their pants down.

      • I've never seen Chinese manufacturing and export discussed as positively as it is currently,

So the propaganda machine is working? China #1!

        • This is more than propaganda. It's a broader effort using market power. It makes them money and wins them respect. Meanwhile they still want to invade Taiwan. Will people demand their western government to intervene if they are soft on China? Less likely.

          • @gakko: yep case in point re: israel

          • @gakko:

Will people demand their western government to intervene if they are soft on China?

Based on every previous war we've gotten involved in, I don't think what the people want plays any part. China can have Taiwan, not because it's right or wrong, or you love or hate China, but because why should we be acting as World Police? If there's one lesson we should learn from history is that trying be World Police is a mug's game that gains you zero benefit for a HUGE cost.

            • @1st-Amendment: domestic politics dictates foreign policy, it's an age old maxim that will always apply. it's not the only factor, but you will see the influence of domestic politics on all major foreign policy decisions

              • @May4th:

domestic politics dictates foreign policy, it's an age old maxim that will always apply

Not in war. Ukraine, Israel, Iraq, Vietnam, Korea etc etc… Except for every war we've been involved in, it always applies lol…

The only thing that decides if we go to war with China is if the US goes to war with China. The same reason we go to war every time.

                • @1st-Amendment: there are entire textbooks that have been written on the influence of domestic politics on the wars mentioned above. geopolitics plays a bigger part in some of them but domestic factors play a part too. for us china hawks are bipartisan for better or worse so it's less of a factor as our foreign policy is basically "follow uncle sam he'll look after us"

    This is a sick car.

I would buy it just to drag mums off at the lights, but i know depreciation will be a bitch.

Maybe in 3 years when they're going for $20k.

    0-100kmh in <5s.

    • +1

"Maybe" is the secret code here: you talk shite ?

      • +1

        Depends how fast it depreciates.

If it hits $20k i will put my money where my mouth is.

  • +1

Still waiting on any reviews myself to try and make a decision. Sucks the PHEV FBT benefit via Novated lease finishes end of March

    • +1

Yeah they have really timed this poorly if it's not going to be delivered by the end of march. cutting it very fine

      • Yep, also been away most of Feb on Holiday does not help me either :)

    • It will be extended… We still have bugger all large range options compared to anywhere else on the planet..and Australia is a big place.

      • Yeah I have seen some of pollies/departments would support it been extended.

    • +3

      No reason to neg though?

    • +1

Hows that worthy of a neg becuase you dont like its $50k???

    • +1

You have a fair point, although the neg may be for the downvote of the deal?

I imagine there's a lot of car loans out there.
It's financial suicide to take out a loan on a depreciating asset.

    • 4 mil+++ in assets and can't afford 50k?????

        • I didn't say I couldn't afford it.

If you didn’t say this then why bother mentioning you’re top 10% in assets?

If you purchased $50k car every 8 years, that’s only 400k. Nothing compared to 4mil. I didn’t know 10% difference can be the difference you not retiring

What do you spend your money on?

    • +2

$50k isn't that much money these days. Not that I'd spend that much on a car, you can get a perfectly good second hand one for less than $10k.

      • +2

Its a lot of money when that money could appreciate in an appreciating asset rather than depreciating one

  • +2

Can they deliver by March 31? Otherwise the novated lease FBT exemption will be gone, this is a major consideration for heaps of buyers

    • I was told will be docked in Melbourne Mid-March.

not enough time for custom clearance, registration, finance,….

  • +2

whether they can deliver before 31st March will make or break this deal

  • +1

looks nice. can't wait for a test drive in Melbourne

  • -1

This is a funny car. Huge power figures - 321kw/762Nm and AWD. But performance doesn't impress, with a 0-100 km/h of only 4.9 seconds. I can't find the kerb weight, but it must be approaching 2.5t for it to be that slow.

But at least now it has some performance to match it's aggressive looks.

    • +7

      'only 4.9sec'
you can match a Mustang GT in a soccer mum SUV body and that's still not enough for you?

      • Nope, not if you compare with other cars with similar power figures.

        • other ICE cars? EVs/PHEVs are always going to be heavier. the BYD Shark has the same power output, obviously a larger car with 0-100 of 5.7sec

    • +1

What on Earth? It has a petrol Engine and batteries…so weighs as much as an old land cruise …yet faster than a WRX.

      Yet not happy.

Side fun fact1 - soccer.mums / dads (pedal to the metal or nothing), will be destroying tyres in 1/4 time of what they are used to.

Fact 2 - these cars in general accelerate so fast off the line, we will be seeing epic accidents at roundabouts etc, as our perceptions of allowable gaps will be way off.

  • My wifes H6GT 2023 has been such an excellent car im almost considering trading it on one of these.

Would aort out the only negative with the car that like most chinese made turbo 4 cylinders its quite a thirsty car.

Productreview has some feedback for those interested in if Haval H6's (and GTs) have been reliable and how the dealers service them
    https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/gwm-haval-h6gt-ult…
    https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/haval-h6

We looked at buying this H6 PHEV car on a lease and then went and purchased a mitsubishi Eclipse Cross PHEV simply on the high quality feedback from users (and we have a petrol eclipse that has been perfect for 7 years). Yes I know the mistsu is older and doesnt have all the latest tech, but its been a really reliable workhorse for the family. To top this off, the mitsu is still built in japan - go figure !

    cross feedback to compare

First time in my life have I seen someone going to productreview for car purchases decisions.

      • yes i thought it was common knowledge it's next to useless. just look at insurance products for example

    • Product reviews can be bought for very cheap, just like authentic Amazon reviews. You can experience this yourself if you likeby contacting review companies. There are deals for 20 to 50000 reviews if you like; for a price.

  • +1

When 7 seaters? Our fam need one 🙏

    • No good value 7 seater options at the moment, only the expensive Kluger hybrid at $89k if you want all the bells and whistles. Haval Tank 500 Ultra hybrid is $74k but the fuel economy is at 8.5L/100km or wait 1-2 years for the BYD Tang EV to arrive, it'll probably be $85k.

  • Just read this up from - https://www.drive.com.au/news/2025-gwm-haval-h6-gt-phev-pric…, "However this electric-only range has been certified under NEDC testing, which is less stringent than the newer WLTP lab-test standard".

Looking at - https://www.jdpower.com/cars/shopping-guides/electric-vehicl…, it states that "Compare that to the NEDC’s tendency to overestimate by 25% to 30%"

So, it is about 126km, WLTP? Correct?

    • +1

WLTP is another standard, usually closer to real world KMs.. yes I'd take 70-80% of NEDC and that's being generous. 120-130 sounds about right, depends a lot on how you drive it (highway >100km/h will give you a lot less vs city)

      • Yeah, something to get your head around with EVs vs petrol.

Country driving actually yields a significantly reduced range.

But this is a PHEV, so petrol on freeways, electric in traffic.

    • The battery tech is also NMC, so unless you’re peak charging to 100% then immediately driving the nominal charge would be 80%, cutting down the range even further.

  • Anyone know how the batteries are cooled?

    Crucial in Australia.

On my 3rd Mitsi PHEV battery - A/C cooled (reluctant warranty claims).

Also, why no cooled seats? Best thing ever in Aus..

    • I agree that we don't need heated seats but do really need cooled seats.

      • It shows other Haval models have a cooled seat option. So hopefully you can get them.

  • Im looking to buy one of these, what are my chances of wiping a few more 1000 of this price?
