Electrolux Vs Mitsubishi Fridge

Walked into Bing Lee looking to purchase an Electrolux EBE4302BD-R (425L) but bumped into a Mitsubishi WX470 (470L). Looks and feels amazing, and I can’t believe they squeezed 470L into a 650mm wide fridge - but I have to really wonder if the cost is justified.

My parameters for a new fridge:
- Needs to be 700mm or less in width
- Relatively energy efficient (the 6 stars for the Electrolux is what got me interested to start)
- Bottom mount
- Lasts longer than a Samsung

Does anyone have experience with the WX470 they’d like to share? Cheers in advance!

Love our WX470. Got it second hand about 5 years ago and couldn’t be happier, can’t remember how old it was before that. They are made in Japan and solid. Ice maker without having it plumbed in is great too, one fill of the ice making reservoir makes more or less a draw full of ice.

We normally keep the bottom fridge for drinks rather than veggies and that works great aswell. Couldn’t recommend highly enough

If got another fridge would only be to get the 700L version with a growing family

Any of these issues affect your usage?
(see the short 3 star review)

      • Nope dont really have the issues with sizes, tall stuff like milk etc I put in the door. One of the shelf can go up and down by some amount so you can tweak it

        • What about the need to open both doors to access sliding stuff as per that review?

          • @Protractor: Mine must be an older model because my drawers are different to the one linked, on the drawer level in top fridge, mine has water reservoir, thinner double stack egg and cheese drawer, then vege drawer and they match the door width, so everything opens with a single door

I would still buy it with the current setup though, the doors are quite light and easy to open

            • @Billy24: Yeah I guess the extra step and possible loss of cool, momentarily (energy) might phase a few ppl, but I'm guessing most of them won't be as bothered by the $$ lost for that, over the extra step.

  • What do these two companies know about making fridges? I thought one specialised in vacuums and the other in cars. Makes me think making fridges is just a side hustle and not really something they specialise in.

    • Not sure about Electrolux, unless you count their Westinghouse brand.. .but Mitsubishi Electric has been making household appliances since 1919. So that's probably why they know about making fridges.
