On occasion, I sail the 7 seas ;)

    • +5

Yeah no idea why people pay good hard earned for any movies/tv let alone a syndicated series that's paid for itself countless times over.

      • +13

Not to mention you're only paying for access to it while Apple continues to maintain the license to stream it on their service. Once they cancel it you lose it.

        • Much less likely to happen on VOD / rentals like iTunes though compared to actual streaming services

        • +2

Also, as a user that watches Apple purchases on desktop (windows), the experience sucks. Main issue is that you can't auto play episodes — after each episode ends, you need to manually play the next one. (You can get around this by downloading the episodes, though.) Second issue I get is that sometimes when opening the player (I think it happens on both Apple TV, and iTunes) your screen will flicker — sometimes it resets my windows positions, sometimes it'll just crash.

Oh god it’s happening, everyone stay calm.

      Oh god it’s happening

      That's what she said.

  • +2

Same price in AU too. Just check for the box set.

    • +10

Yeah the (US) was for the version of the show

    • +1

      Just check for the box

      That's what she said.

      • -1

People would get confused as soon as you say US. Check the comment section. That's why I said that :)

  • +2

aw I thought this was the AU version

    • +22

      We don’t talk about that.

    • +2

You can stream that on Prime: https://www.primevideo.com/region/fe/detail/0RVW3OR1Q8EFQFAL…

Seems there's no option to "buy" the season yet.

      • +26

If only there was no option to stream it either.

    • -3

It’s so much better than this. This is the most boring show ever made.

      • +3
      • +2

Yeah nah the show is excellent, you're the problem.

        • Well three agree and three disagree so far and
also who said you could take your magic8ball out?

    • -6

Au version is great. Peoples expectations were too high and expected the same characters. I hope they continue the series!

      • +5

Australia’s version of The Office should be Utopia not that Amazon crap imo

      • +2

        Au version is great

I think this is the first comment I read online from someone who enjoyed it. No shade.

I really tried to enjoy it but it was terrible. The jokes don't land. I would be incredibly shocked if they renew it.

Cashies got used at $45 + Delivery: https://www.cashconverters.com.au/shop/music-tv-video/cds-dv…

Though DVD vs HD, physical ownership vs digital usage license.

    • +15

      digital usage license.

That can be taken away from you at any point with no refund.

      • +1

Or give you a guilty-free "feeling" of pirate the episodes instead LOL, especially given a BD box set comes with a $300 price tag…

      • +3

This needs to be upvoted more.

It doesn't happen often, but it happens enough that it's a big issue that goes unpunished by consumers

        • +2

It doesn't happen often, but it happens enough that it's a big issue

          That's what she said.

        • +1

Yep never happened to me, and I own many digital copies, but I guess it could happen! I do love getting upgrades in video over the years for free though

  • Haven't seen any of them. Will have to binge watch at some point. Which one is the best? US? UK?

    • +12

UK was the original, but I think the US version was better.

    • +13

UK version has a drier, sharper, sense of humour and thrives on those awkward moments that can make people cringe/laugh. You get the feeling things might not work out and it feels more real. US version has a higher budget, is more wacky, has the polished timing of US TV comedy, tries to avoid offending the audience or going outside of the comfort zone.

      • +3

I think I'd prefer the UK one, while the Mrs would prefer the US one.

    • +4

UK is the best by far but US is pretty funny once it gets a few seasons in

    • +2

US version is more lighthearted sitcom-esque (season 2-5 are pretty great). UK version feels more realistic, dry, and very bleak office humor.
Both are VERY different shows (but the first episodes of both are the same), that went in different directions with tone and style. I definitely think they're both worth a watch, especially as casual viewing while you sit and play on your phone.

      • +3

        Both are awesome.
        Compared to the Australian one.

    • +6

Avoid the Australian version…At all costs…

    • -4

      US by far.

    • +2

The UK office is one of the funniest shows I have ever seen, however I am a huge fan of British comedy.

  • -4

You can watch this on Prime
    Or Binge
    Or Stan

    • +3

what do each of those cost for a lifetime subscription?

      • -3

i get prime and binge for free.

        • +2

is it guaranteed the office will remain on those platforms?

what if your sugardaddy cuts your access?

          • +3

            @douevenozbargain:

is it guaranteed the office will remain on those platforms?

If you don't have a physical or DRM free digital copy in your control, you don't have permanent access to it. You have access to the content as long as Apple are willing to maintain that access. There will be many clauses you would have agreed to when you clicked accept in the terms and conditions or that might have been referred to in the purchase conditions.

        • +1

Share it with us then and we can share your deal

          • -3

            @onlinepred:

            share your deal

I shared a deal the other day.

      • +1

The only true 'lifetime' subscription would be physical copy. Anything sold on DRM or stream are subject to license/copyright. Technically physical is, but it's harder for business attempt to confiscate that.

The point of it being on Prime/Binge/Stan have valid point, trial periods can be attain, and effectively mean free to stream. Or if you pay for month only to watch the show, technically cheaper than 29.99.

        • +1

Physical copy can be damaged and then be rebought. "Digital" copies can still be physical as far as I'm concerned. On a USB or other form of physical media means it's available digitally and physically.

    • What about ** Presto**?

      • ** Hey** ?

        • ** Hi**!

    • +1

      Or free on plex :)

      • -1

        How?

  • +3

Thanks! Besides OzB and checking the Apple Store home page (endless scrolling), is there a website where it tracks price drops for shows/movies on Apple?
I recall I got Avatar the last airbender for cheap via OzB, but it would be great to track others.. e.g. Hey Arnold Box set.

    • Try CheapCharts. You can add things to your Wishlist to get notified via email. Great for checking historical pricing too. The website’s search feature is a bit clunky but overall a very useful site.

  • +2

Is this worth it if I've already watched every season 3 times?

    • It is your birthday.

    • +1

      Yes

    • A true fan wouldn't be asking this question!

  • +1

I am after deals for Friends! Anyone also tracking that?
I always worry when they threaten to remove Friends from the platform.

    • +3

Cheapcharts app (iOS) has got an iTunes price history/tracker for Friends. Currently ~$160, lowest ~$50.

  • +1

What is the usual price on this?

  • i somehow have this in full on youtube, must have bought it.. otherwise this is good deal, classic show, one of the best.

  • I can't see the price anymore. What am I missing?

  • I just felt like watching this on my iPhone when travelling and stumbled upon the deal naturally before coming here! Just my luck! $30 is a bargain.

    • +1

Exactly why I bought it, so I could watch while at work on my phone haha

  • +5

For anyone who's interested, Apple has a whole load of boxed sets for under $30 such as:

    30 Rock
    Arrested Development
    Community
    Monk
    Fisk
    I Dream Of Jeannie
    The Last Man On Earth
    Kung Fu
    The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
    Lois & Clark
    Gilligan's Island

As well as a stack of shows I don't like.

    • +4

      "boxed"

    • +1

30 Rock is the best value there.

    • Just noting that the 'Arrested Development, The Complete Series' doesn't seem to include Season 5.

    • Thanks! Got monk and I dream of Jeannie. The former because it’s a good show and the latter because I want to remember my childhood days watching TV after school.

      • +1

Yes, I love Monk as well. By the way, there's a movie out called "Mr. Monk's Last Case: A Monk Movie" which I only just discovered.

        • It was good to see the Monk gang reunited. I even bought it on iTunes before realising I could’ve streamed for free. Worth it though and it was better than other series reunion shows eg the Gilmore girls.

  • -1

Is this free on my steam deck?

  • +1

people ask me if I 'watched' The Office, oh no, I 'watch' the Office.

  • +6

Office UK is the best. I will die on this hill.

    • Today smoking is going to save lives.

  • Physical or bust

  • +2

Dwight - 'You're not Jim, Jims not Asian'

the most under-rated bit in TV history

    • It's a funny bit, I guess, but identity theft is not a joke…

    • That’s the short I saw on FB which led me to realise I should watch it!

    • You mean overrated, it's probably the most quoted scene from the entire series.

      • Im sorry but 'Im ready to get hurt again' is by far and away the most quoted line in the series

        • No way, it's "hey mister scott, whatcha gonna do? whatcha gonna do, make our dreams come true".

  • What region is this set on?

  • -2

No deal unless it includes the Aus version

  • Picked this up despite it usually being available on at least a couple of the streaming services. It is a classic and easy watch while flying. Handy to have downloaded and no rights issues.

Also got Vera seasons 1 to 10 for $12.99 to give it a go. V cheap.

  • +1

Yeah it's great to have till they take it away from you since you're licensing it not purchasing it

  • +2

Weird hack for sleep, but I listen to The Office most nights and it puts me to sleep. Works so damn well it’s almost annoying. It’s the perfect mix of consistent talking and no loud sounds throughout. Highly recommend.

The hardest part has been trying to get an audio-only version to save on iPhone storage. Have previously been getting eps on the high seas then converting to audio-only and having to play on VLC as iTunes won’t allow it. I’d given up after a couple of seasons so hopefully this will now make things easier.
    Thanks OP!
