After following standard OzBargainer methods, the Pixel 9 works out to $865.67 ($483 or 35% off RRP$1349) including 300GB of data for a month.
23/24 months x $800 + $99 = $865.67.

Hoping for the ultra
How about the pro?
Would bite with a similar Pixel Fold deal
Yep, busting for a decent fold deal
Still not the $1700 off tho, wait for $1700 off SS25
So I'm new to this whole voucher repayment thing but I've been looking for a deal on the 9 pro.
Am I correct in reading that a similar deal is available to the pro XL?
$1500 off the cost of the phone, so $347 there, voucher repayment of $800 and one month at $99? Total of $1286.
Or am I way off
https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/google-pixel-9-pro-xl-5g-…
Close. Voucher repayment will be what is remaining. 23/24 months x 800 according to previous posts.
I'd love to know this too, I am terrible at maths so can't help figure it out. But keen on a deal!
confirming this deal works fine, I went to JB today and bought 2 pixel 9 pro XL 256gb, went home and cancelled via live chat. As a per Op my Math was a little wrong. Total cost was 497 device fee + 99 monthly plan fee (they would not refund this) + $766.59 cancellation fee (23/24 x 800). All up $1362.59
Cancel the plan with Telstra live chat immediately and you won't need to pay the $99.
looks like they caught on a few years back. its all in the CIS. Though not sure if any has tried to canceled in recent years?
https://www.telstra.com.au/help/critical-information-summari…
Search for the pixel pro pre-launch deals last year. Telstra and JB have caught on to this "hack" long time ago but they just don't care.
This is pure luck in my experience. Have done so within 30 minutes of purchasing a phone and still been charged.
No it's not, I did it last year with pixel pro 9 XL and pixel pro 9. If the agent refuses, just insist or close the chat and retry.
Edit: To clarify I meant you don't pay by getting the $99 refunded.
When I got the pixel 8 with voucher, the first month was charged to my card before I made it out the jbhifi door.
The Ts and Cs say
"The Google Pixel 9 128GB phone (referred to as the "JB Hi-Fi Voucher" in the Telstra Terms and Conditions and replacing the dollar value of the Voucher in the Critical Information Summary) will be available to you instore after connection approval by Telstra. If you cancel or move to a lower cost/different plan then you must pay a Voucher Repayment Fee to Telstra pro-rated against the remaining months of your plan's minimum term"
Can anyone confirm if this means the voucher repayment fee is 23/24 of $1,347 (and not $800), because the phone value replaces the dollar value of the voucher?
As per the OP, total payment is $865.67. They had this deal for the 9 pro last year, same payout figure as it's the same plan. The year before that Harvey Norman had a similar deal for the 8 pro. It must be Google's way of getting market share, can't say it's not working, I see heaps of pixels in the wild these days.
This compared to the recent deal for pixel 8 128gb for $687, which one is better value do you all reckon?
I am sorry I'm new to this and would love to snag this deal, what is meant by 23/24 x 800?
I am not so great at math-ing!
I was just worried I might have to pay out the remainder of the plan at 24 x $99 - I'm not sure I understand the voucher system, sorry!
If anyone could explain it a bit better to me I'd be grateful 🙂
It is confusing i agree. here is my attempt to break it down.
Step 1: Getting involved: walk into JBHIFI and to participate in the Pormo.
Step 2: Payment for participation: On participation you are automatically charged for first month of the plan ($99).
Step 3: canceling Promo: Costs/fees are involved to cancel prior to the 24th Month. cost is directly proportional to the length its been active. ie. cancel at month12 = 12/24x800 = 400. in most case people cancel straight away. ie. 23/24 x 800.
total cost incurred for the phone is: (fee paid to cancel plan) + (months promo use).
Example 1. starting today and canceling plan prior to 17th April. i.e 3 months of promo used. = 3 x99
+ 21/24x800 =700…. cost incurred = $997.
Thank you so much for stepping that put for me, I really appreciate it!
Now the site is showing $99 for 24 months & JB is offering $1100 Voucher & Voucher repayment is $800 (Less first month of $99 that you pay at the time of signing up= $701) as per CIS. Can we use that $1100 towards an iPhone instead of Google Pixel Devices? We are looking to get an iPhone 15 128 GB Model.
I believed you can.
May be better to get the $1100 voucher to purchase the discounted Google pixel 8 and there is still remaining of $400 voucher.
Has anyone tried to return the phone bought on this offer after cancelling the mobile plan?
What would happen if I cancel the $99 plan immediately and the next day want to return the unopened mobile phone to JB Hi-Fi? Will they refund $1,349?
They will not refund it. Because you didn't pay $1,349 for the phone.
I have heard otherwise
No you haven't or you wouldn't be asking
Hi folks! Apologies if this is a dumb (or already covered) question…
I'm hoping to go for this deal as I was in the market for a Pixel 9 anyways. Unfortunately, I'm already with Telstra and would like to keep my existing number. Do you know if there's a quick way to port out and port back in that would allow me to take advantage before the end date? Any handy guides or step-by-steps that have been written on the topic?
Thanks in advance for the help. :)
Instead of porting, opt for a new number. The $1100 gift card is available for both port-in and new connections. Cancel the new number on the same day and pay a $766 cancellation fee to retain the $1100 gift card.
Ah, right.
So just to clarify, I'd be signing up for (and cancelling) a completely new service? I'd be keeping my own number as a separate service/sim? And surely I'd need to return the Pixel 9 if I cancelled?
I don't know whether I've misunderstood, but the implication seems to be that I'd get a free Pixel 9 (to use with my existing sim card and number) and a $1,100 gift card, and I'd just need to pay a cancellation fee of $766! That seems too good to be true…
Yeah doubt you get the gift card doing this.
It's a voucher cancellation fee. So you don't get the voucher as well.
@danwylie: Ooooh, right. So you're effectively just getting the Pixel 9 for $865.67; you don't also get the voucher. Understood.
Thanks for the clarification.
@Guloroo: Or $766 if you can try your luck multiple times for the $99 refund against the first month, given you don’t use the services and cancel straightaway.
