Agreed re: Budvar. Praga is a perfectly good Central European-tasting beer. I picked up a slab with for this price last night and am feeling glad. In 375ml equivalence, it's under $40 for the slab.
Pilsner Urquell is the king, nothing else comes close, especially this praga shite

@9hundred: trust me, praga is horrible because it's sweet, whereas PU is bitter the way beer should be.

Meaning they only produce it for export as it would not sell very well in Czech Rep.
Not saying it is bad for Aussie market, just that Czechs have specific expectations.
When your create the Pilsner style you have certain expectations, like you expect your Pilsner to taste like a Pilsner.
Brewed for export, but still a very nice beer.

@SoTightEcoLPI: Just FYI, Oettinger is amongst the cheapest beers in Germany. When I came of age you could buy a crate of 20 * 0.5l bottles for 3,99 Euros.

I've had a can to drink last night..For some reason, there was a metallic aftertaste. Not sure if it's expected from a can beer, a particular batch or this brand is an issue.

Thats a can thing, you cant beat a bottle. This comes in bottles of 330ml but isnt as cost effective.
Disagree, in-date canned beer shouldn't taste metallic at all, plus bottled beer is technically worse because you can get light struck whereas canned beer can't.
Bottled beer always tastes better than cans.
Bottles are only worse for the brewery as they cost more to buy and to ship. Convincing people to drink out of cheap cans is for cost savings. Nothing to do with improving the flavour, they make it worse.

Honestly everything tbh. But for preference. My favourite is Kozel + Meggy sour cherry beer.
Its funny because i purchased the one from the last deal. That was 9/12 and it arrived yesterday. Click and Collect is the way to go if your lucky enough to have a store nearby.

It’s much better, but you have to like Euro beers.
"Euro" beers is not some genre, this beer is very lacking, European or not.
Not a genre at all, however many will dislike things that are not familiar with.

I’m trying say that many beer drinkers in Australia like to session lager. Xxxx gold, great northern, corona etc.
If you give these drinkers beers made in Europe they will tell you it tastes like cats P$$s etc. because they don’t have the taste palate for euro malt and hops like saaz.
@Stewardo: It's alright, I understand what you are trying to say, I'm saying this beer doesn't have the malt and hops profile good beers have either, the fact that it's euro is irrelevant, oettinger is a german beer, that doesn't stop it from being a very poor beer
