ShopBack Cashback Issues - Transactions Changed to $0

Hi All,

I ordered several items at the recent 35% cashback deal on Everyday Market, after the transactions were complete i had 6 transactions tracked on my account, 3 were for $0 and 3 were for the correct amounts tracked.

Over a week ago, two of the tracked transactions ($260+ each) were zeroed out on my account and i was left with 5x $0 and one successful tracked amount :( They were all due to be confirmed by 30th Jan 2025. Given I ordered on 2nd Nov, I am well past the 30 day return window and can confirm I'm still using all the products!

After wasting much time with the ShopBack chatbot, which got me nowhere, I raised a claim with ShopBack, and also got nowhere after over a week ago.

Has anybody had a similar experience with ShopBack and have any suggestions on what next?!

Thanks :(

Oh no OP. Same has happened to me too :-(. All my relatively high-value Everyday Market transactions from Nov 2, 2024, tracked successfully at the time, including tracking emails confirming the amounts. But since then, all but the first one has been zeroed out. I'll reach out to Shopback direct now too. Thanks for the heads-up!

It looks like it only allowed the 1st purchase for the upsized cashback, hidden terms added later.

      • Mine was the other way around, zero on first purchase and second remained.

In the past, if a transaction was tracked, you were almost always guaranteed to receive the cashback.

When I learned about the Honey scandal, it involved cases where transactions were not tracked because the sale was attributed to PayPal, which differs from the situations described by others on this forum.

The tracking cookie and other identifiers placed on your system determine which affiliate receives the commission, provided that the promotion's conditions are met at the time the transaction is tracked. A transaction can only be subsequently rejected due to failure to meet criteria.

Once a sale has been tracked, it cannot be mistakenly attributed to another affiliate.

There is limited recourse in this situation. Evidence suggests that cashback cannot be classified as ordinary income, meaning it cannot be considered a loss of income if you did not receive it. This legal uncertainty makes it unlikely that class action lawsuits can be pursued against these companies. However, I have only discussed this topic informally with my colleagues. It is conceivable that a prominent barrister or judge might hold a differing view, but I see there is potentially a lack of contractual consideration. In my opinion, a cashback is more of a windfall and reward.

Personally, I refrain from making a purchase using cashback services unless I am fully prepared not to receive the cashback.

The Honey legal case will be an important case to follow and could bring the house of cards crashing down.

  • Imma guess you bought items that were ineligible and/or used a code that wasn't on Shopback's website (like do they even have codes?).

With the latter, plenty got caught out using the code for new customers but found out after the 30 day period.

    • I purchased eligible items and didn't use any codes and mine was still changed to zero.

  • Hey Everybody! No worries, we understand your frustration with the Everyday Market Cashback issue. We're aware that a few other customers have been experiencing the same thing.

We're already working with Everyday Market to figure out what's going on. It seems to be affecting some orders from November, so we're looking into it closely.

We apologize for the trouble this is causing, and we'll do our best to get things sorted out as quickly as possible.

    Thanks for your patience!

    • We've been looking into the recent issue with Everyday Market Cashback, and we've resolved the issue that was causing some Cashbacks to be incorrectly rejected.

If your Everyday Market purchase was eligible for Cashback, you should see a correction reflected in your account within the next two weeks.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

      • Thanks for the update.
