Trade-in a Pixel 8 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro & Get a Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold 256GB $1299 Delivered + $150 Store Credit @ Google

Alright, so I didn't see this one come up in the OzB deals section here and I did see this one for the Pixel 9 Pro and XL https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/888519.

If you trade in an 8 Pro, you'll get $1000 + the $150 store credit. When you go through the trade in though, it doesn't let you specify the storage size of your phone so I'm just assuming it's a flat $1000 for any model, which is a decent trade in value for a phone that regularly goes on special between $650 and $800. Considering how many times in the past year the 8 Pro went on sale, I'd think a few OzBargainers would have one. Hell, you could probably nab someone's unwanted 8 Pro off FB or Gumtree and take advantage of this.

That being said, the phone itself is decent, and that this price it's worth considering. I certainly would never pay over $2000 for one, it's not the best foldable on the market, especially at it's standard price. If you're looking for a decent foldable, with a slightly worse camera than the other Pixel 9s and the 8 Pro then I'd give it a thought.

  • So how much credit or price off do you get for iPhone 15

    • Same amount. When you select the iPhone 15 Pro in the trade-in section, it will ask for your storage size. Won't do so for the Pixel 8 Pro. You also still get the store credit. The credit is for purchasing the phone, not trading in.

  • Are folding phones worth it?

    • Samsung is pretty good… Not sure of this…

      • Found a recent review on the 9 Pro Fold here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51V0aHyZAfA

After seeing all the pictures of the display failing in the 9 pro fold reddit, I would be very wary of purchasing this.

If you show me pictures of smashed iphone screens from drops…. then would i be very wary of iphones too? or phones in general?

Your mileage may vary, but as someone that has owned both this and Samsungs Fold 5 - i can't see how the screen would fail other than the owner being negligent/clumsy.

Trade in value is $1000.00 off, better to sell iPhone on Facebook market place… 1200 to 1300…

  • The back glass of my pixel 8 pro dropped yesterday and has a crack now this affects the trade in by $500!?

    • Get it repaired for less, tell the guy, all you want is trade in… I don't think they check the trade phone if it works or not…

  • does anyone know how this will work? i've had a look and i can't seem to find any references to trade ins and change of mind returns

I have an old pixel 7 pro, the trade in value if i buy the 9 pro fold is $800 which is a couple hundred more than selling it on fb marketplace (and more convenient too)

can i buy this phone, leave it unopened in new condition (or even refuse delivery and ask to return to sender) and get a refund on the pixel 9 pro fold purchase and get the $800 trade-in refunded as google store credit?

i can see this clause under their t&c's for their trade in policy, but it has no reference to the trade-in device (or old device):
If you return your new Google device to the Australian Google Store in accordance with the applicable Google Store return policy, you will receive a store credit for the new device for usage on the Google Store

  • The Question is, is this worth upgrading from a P8P? Assuming you got the Optus HN deal last year it would be financially beneficial but then again, specs wise is it worth it to throw down another $1200 for a foldable?

Specs are worse on this. Only benefit is the fold. Folding is cool and all but most of the time id probably be holding the phone folded up. Possible use case might be playing vampire survivors or something

      • Yeah. True on the gimmick part. Would most likely use unfolded when reading or watching.

As someone who had the Pixel 8 Pro, upgraded to the 9 Pro Fold and then sold it to buy the 9 Pro XL, it really depends on your preference. The camera is good like all Pixel phones, but its not as good as the Pixel 9 Pro models or maybe even the Pixel 8/8 Pro. I believe they can't squeeze the same pro camera models into the folds due to the thinness and for me this was a dealbreaker. Don't get me wrong - camera was still very good, but I could notice it wasn't as good as the 8 Pro/9 Pro XL and that annoyed me.

For everything else, Pixel 9 Pro Fold was awesome. Great battery life, loved watching stuff on the unfolded screen and the software is pretty good too.

      • How about the performance, particularly when switching between apps? I remember older Pixel models often refreshing apps whenever I switched between them, which was quite frustrating.

      • How is the battery life on the P9P compared to fold and P8P? I would classify myself as a medium user. Mainly ozb, chats and videos.
