BYD's cheapest electric vehicles. Orders open Monday 13th January for March delivery, confirmed by most major car news websites. Competitive cars for the price.
Range for these models is the same as the current base models. 340km Dolphin and 345km Atto 3. Very competitive options for urban drivers.
How long will legacy car makers continue to rely on loyalty before having to put prices down instead of increasing prices every year?
atto owner here, I've had one since late 2022 when they landed. the cars are excellent, a joy to drive and fantastic value for mone, even more so at this price point
the local support and servicing and general approach to the software is not so great
they are still struggling to provide decent levels of support but they continue to bring out new models that I don't think they are themselves ready for. the whole mycar network approach has gone nowhere fast despite eagers, who own the local byd distributor, owning mycar as well. the software on the atto (at least) hasn't had any useful features added in quite some time (karaoke, wtf), and in fact they've removed features due to bugs (automatic rear view mirror) that have no clear paths towards resolution, and features they have said they would be adding also have no timeline (using your phone's nfc)
I am currently in line to buy a shark but the communications around this are horrendous. I am finding that reddit is more reliable than the dealer here. this was very much the same with the atto, which doesn't create a lot of confidence
so while I recommend them as a car, I warn people about post-sales because this continues to severely let them down
