How is this board game so popular? It is terrible, IMHO. I played it as a kid, and the winning strategy is basically to buy everything you can, and bully your opponents into trading.
The "monopoly deal" card game is far more entertaining. As are countless other games.
You've clearly never played 'strip' monopoly.
Sounds a bit slow. I prefer strip-Risk :-)
These sounds like pretty garbage variations.
We recently opened up Mario kart monopoly which had been sitting around for years. They actually did a really good rule variation. It feels as much like mario kart as a board game could.

These are mostly bought by collectors. Agree that the game is terrible, there's a lot of good games you can pick instead.
I bought the E.T. monopoly for $5 when they had them on sale the other day. Might buy these and start "collecting" some more. Maybe just 80s and 90s themed ones. :)
The ET version certainly has some appeal.
