Moderator's note

We have discovered that most of our referral links will activate the US referral program and not the Australian one. Buyers please check for /en_au when you arrive on Tesla's referral page.

For example, if you landed on

  • https://www.tesla.com/referral/ozbargain123 with the text
  • OzBargain Gave You Up To $1,000 Off a New Tesla

then you are on Tesla US. You will need to change to

  • https://www.tesla.com/en_au/referral/ozbargain123 with the text
  • OzBargain Gave You $350 Off a New Tesla

The moderators will look for a permanent fix to our referral system.

Tesla sales are dropping like a lead balloon we should be seeing better deals soon .

    • +13

Apparently being 1.1% lower in 2024 than 2023 is "dropping like a lead balloon".

        1. The company’s global deliveries fell slightly by 1.1 percent
        2. Tesla China reported that its 2024 EV sales rose 8.8 percent year over year
3 Deliveries of Tesla electric cars in Australia declined over a calendar year for the first time on record in 2024 – down 17 per cent – despite significant price cuts of up to $9500.
        • Of course you need substantial price cuts for EVs to increase market share. That or major petrol price rises.
Prices can drop more, as Telsla still has big profit margins, and increasing competition from China. Sadly not much competition from anywhere else.

@bargaino: Battery prices are falling incredibly fast (running at +40% per year for the last few years) which results in lower costs = lower prices (or more discounts). Its not just the Chinese vehicles either, check out Mercedes EV options, they are now basically at parity with their ICE options, where last year they were $10-15k more expensive, and the year before that they were $20k more.

Next year (and this year) will see EVs as cheap as ICE options at the middle tier price ranges. (still not there yet at the cheapest end of the market)

Apparently being 1.1% lower in 2024 than 2023

Meanwhile all other EV companies are 📈….

  • Would anyone recommend a Tesla? Do they still sell the full wings?

    • +1

      Nope, just legs

  • someone sent me referral: i messaged him that i do not want a microwave 😅

    • +3

If I wanted to support a democracy-threatening fascist I'd subscribe to the Australian. Cheaper and I can use it to wipe my arse afterwards

  • +31

defintely won't be supporting the internet's biggest troll and man-child Musk.

    • +18

And generally now wants to control the world's poltiicians- richest man in the world and wants to control the US, UK and German governments.

      • A friend and I have a gentleman's bet on who he tweets support for first: Clive Palmer or Pauline Hansen

    • +9

Musk has found his useful idiot, so it is full steam ahead.

    • +5

Who would want to be seen supporting that clown? 🤡

      The bloke is unhinged.

    • -3

Yes because we all know shining a light on rampant government spending, completely out of control illegal immigration, a biased media, violence against citizens and lastly the sexual abuse of children is trolling.

While we also all know spamming the internet with anti-Elon vitriol and by association anti-Tesla attacks is doing God’s work.

      • I was about to commend a nonbias view but then saw the username. Cheeky.

(/s in case anyone thinks I’m being serious, Groks (the user) been around since 2011, relax)

        • I mean, Grok has repeatedly called Elon Musk out on his bullshit when prompted.

      • You're going to be dissapointed if you think Musk actually wants to fix any of this. Most of those things he has exploited in one way or another to line his own pockets.

    They had a $700/$350 referee/referrer bonus 3 months ago

    No deal Elon Tusk!

  • +1

so If i refer a total of 400 people I would have enough to buy a tesla

    • Only if you are a rightful Tesla owner first

  • +16

    Was $1400, how’s this a deal now for $350

    • +1

that's called life, goes up and downs

    • Because it's more than $0

$150 credit to offset the 10k deprecation in the first month

    • Any car that don't depreciate after first month you can recommend?

      • +1

A 1994 VR Commodore should fit the bill.

      • e39 bmw 5 series

  • +2

    I prefer gasoline

    • -1

Take care of your current car then as due to the new emissions laws that started a few days ago new ICE cars sold here by 2029 will all be effectively regulated out of the market or replaced with a Frankenstein hybrid with a tiny highly stressed three cylinder one litre turbo engines at best.

      • +2

Unless the Liberals repeal those laws

      • -1

You're being more than a little hyperbolic there, the laws bring us in line with most other first world countries. At the moment we get older inefficient engines dumped on us by manufacturers trying to save money. I'd much rather less pollution on the roads myself.

  • Thanks OP got one with the Novated Lease deal. Musk and all that Jazz aside , Honestly they are good cars and 2024 model 3 update is solid.

  • This referal money is useless.
You can only use it to make purchases where your referrals cover the while amount.
So if you refer someone you cant top up the referral credit with real money to buy something expensive like a wall connector.

$150 might be enough to get you something useless like a tshirt.
