Nice
Can confirm this was honoured without a hitch instore.
FYI. 11th Generation will be released this year, 2025.
Meet the new gen, just like the old gen.
Apple stopped innovating as soon as Jobs died.
Each generation is incrementally better than the last. If you upgrade every few years you can appreciate it much more than buying the latest every generation or two
No one is buying every generation of base model iPad lol. Buy it and use it until it’s either so slow it drives you mad or it stops running new apps. Either way, it’ll be at least 5 years and probably close to a decade.
@get-innocuous: The main reason for upgrading is the battery no longer holds a charge. Looking forward to see if the EU user replaceable batteries laws in 2027 will change that.
@get-innocuous: Yep. My iPad Pro 2018 is going great.
Incrementally better was used to be called "new version". The word "gen" is watered down now.
They have just added amazing AI features
There have been a few notable innovations since Jobs. Namely AirPods, Apple Silicon, Apple Watch. The ‘existing’ product lines (Mac, iPhone iPad) are all still industry leading.
The obvious flop has been Vision Pro, though the tech is impressive regardless.
AirPods (Apple’s most significant cultural phenomenon besides the iPhone) was Tim Cook’s baby. It’s the reason truly wireless earbuds from other brands exist.
Compare the iPad 4 (likely the last iPad Jobs oversaw) with the current M4 iPad Pro and tell me they’re the same device.
Just incremental improvements, on track with Moore's Law.
@wisdomtooth: No one is forcing you to buy a new iPad each year, mate.
@ThithLord: I don't. Not each year, not any year 😂
@wisdomtooth: O enjoy your barely-1 major OS update Android
11th gen will surely launch with the same RRP the 10 launched with. $749.
Maybe higher. That's 50% more than this deal. The 10th generation's RRP was progressively discounted over there years until it's reached it's current low.
So sure, the 11th gen will offer 3 years of tech improvements, but unless it launches with the same price as today's 10th gen (it won't) then it's not really an apple's to apple's comparison (well it is but you know what i mean ;) )
With a name like that, is that the best you can do op?
They are $499 pretty much everywhere at the moment aren't they? I guess a couple of dollars off is better than nothing.
dammit where were you two weeks ago? grabbed a 9th gen for $395 for my kid but wanted USB c
Can't you return? change of mind? and buy this?
It’s been this price everywhere for quite a while I believe.
What are people's opinions on this or save $100 and get the 9th gen?
Would be used mainly for Procreate.
It probably depends how much you care about the $100 difference. Bare in mind you will need to buy an Apple Pencil at ~$100+.
The 9th Gen is only 13 months older, but on paper the 10th Gen has slight improvements across the board, including being a little bit wider, having a newer chip, and upgrading from Bluetooth 4.2 to BT5.2. Also a repositioning of the built-in speakers.
Practically, the most significant difference is trading the Lightning port for a USB-C port - though iirc it isn't a fully-featured USB-C port. For ProCreate use, the 10th Gen adds support for the Apple Pencil USB-C version as well as retaining the Pencil (1st Gen) support. Afaik the only difference is in how they recharge - one via a Lightning connector the other via USB-C. So you would likely need an adapter to charge the 1st Gen Pencil.
Works out to be $465 if you PB Costco price, so probably worth paying additionally 65-70 bucks for the latest gen (although both are quite old). Slightly bigger screen, newer cheap, improved speakers are a few pros to name a few.
Cheers for the replies. Ended up going the 10th Gen at The Good Guys because of a promotion with AGL. Ended up paying $427 as well as getting a discount on my gas bill.
Is this a euphemism for porn?
Also more RAM, 4GB vs 3GB
will handle latest OS at a greater pace
$489.99 Costco. PB for $465.49
