Looking for a Cheap GPS Tracking System for Cars and Tools for My Small Business

We have a small construction company with a very small fleet of cars (only 5) and tools (about 40-50 tools).

We have had some trouble in the past months with people stealing some tools, I was just wondering if there is a budget way to keep track of our most valuable tools? Like an "airtag" that we can place in the tool and find it in case it gets stolen?

Hopefully you guys can give us some good budget ideas.

Thanks!

You can use an airtag. If the thief has an iPhone it will alert them that they're being followed. They then locate and remove tags. Take the speaker out and hide the tag really well to prevent it being found and dumped on the side of the road.

Car - wanwaytech GPS Tracker with a $10 365 Amaysim Card (Optus networked) and a small Linux Service ($5 to $10 a month) and track all your cars. I have two of these, one for my car and my wife's. Works fantastic! Run it on my own little Tracar server. Plus you can send SMS commands.

I cannot comment on tools at this time, but maybe the AirTag or Tile. But the issue there is that they could be easily broken or taken off, and then they would be useless. It kind of needs something hidden.

    • Careful with the wanwaytech units as I purchased 3 over 8 weeks in Sept and Oct, all were eSIM and did not support physical SIM.

      • I have heard this, I bought both of mine pre eSIM.

  • Get your flavour of tracking tag/s and a stuffed battery for the power tools. Open it up and put the tags in it and some weights to get it back to what it should be. Nothing too banged up though. Extra point if you leave it on a dead drill.
