What’s Been Your Favourite Holiday?

We currently have nothing on the travel agenda, and I’d like some inspiration to change that. So tell me about your favourite trips and why you enjoyed them.

I went to the supermarket last week. No lines at checkout, and I scored a buy-one-get-one-free deal on regrets. 10/10.

Wobbies World c.1984. An awesome "international style playpark".

I liked driving through NZ in winter, particularly driving through the south island (Lake Tekapo was gorgeous)

Just not going to work is holiday enough for me.

I must admit I do enjoy a good staycation.

  • Funland Ulladulla. Don't forget to play 'whirly bucket'.

Went to Germany and hired a BMW M4 and M8. Thrashed both on the autobahns.

Not as expensive as you would think.

    • Siem Reap, Cambodia. So much history and beauty to explore even if the origins are unknown and lots of great food in town.
    • The whole coastline of Western Australia (as well as some inland spots). Look up some itineraries but cape leveque, Broome, coral bay. monkey Mia, Rottnest island etc all amazing as well as the more remote spots inbetween. Lots of snorkelling opportunities and swimming with whale sharks etc.
    • Great Barrier Reef. Lots of options here but a snorkelling diving trip from wherever is always great. Go with a good company that knows where healthy reef is. I’ve done it from various starting points. Whitsundays was nice.
    • Litchfield and Kakadu are always great. Again look up itineraries.
    • vallee Blanche. Ski/snowboard the valley with a guide. Great experience.
    • central Australia in winter is amazing. Uluṟu, kata tjuta etc.
    • Jervis Bay
    • Lord Howe Island
    • Plitvice Lakes, Croatia. Would best to be combined with other areas in Croatia and Europe.

To be honest I have more to share but these are probably the ones I’ve loved most. It obviously depends if you’re more of a city person or outdoors person. I also love travelling cities but I feel the outdoors experiences are the ones the resonant with me most. I’ve also traveled a bit in Japan and there’s a lot of good options there too. Also have enjoyed Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu. Some great hikes and snorkeling in Hawaii. Honestly options are unlimited if you have the $ and time.

I hope you find the right holiday for you.

  • Southern India 6 weeks Feb 2020 self organised. Lots to see & do. Nice people. Good food if you like vegetarian and eating like a local.

Japan (Tokyo, Izu Peninsular hike, Nagasaki, hire car to Kyoto) 3 weeks. Lots to see & do. Fascinating seeing a country with a declining population. Cheap food & booze. Honest people.

    Would return to both.
