I was on holiday in America in January 2003 and they were playing Robbie William's then-new song "Feel" inside a Borders bookstore. So yes his stuff is played over there.

      • +9

as if you discovered him for the very first time from a tiktok of all places

        • +21

Given the age demographic of tik Tok users it's probably not too unrealistic to think they haven't heard of a 90's/early 00's pop singer.

          • +8

@Fish and Grits: I’d be surprised they’d have the attention span to listen to any songs.

        • +2

          It's where teenagers learn things.

        • -4

I got an impeccable taste in music so there's no surprise I've never heard of this "isn't that the comedian"

          • +6

@bigpoppa: Who are you arguing with? Nobody is trying to convince you he makes good music.

      • +5

Bro, the only way you never heard of Robbie Williams until a couple months ago is if you were born in September 2024..

        • -1

you're confusing robbie williams with Robin Williams

  • -6

If I were him, I’d sing Rudebox, on repeat. If you haven’t heard it, Google it. Worst song ever written.

    • +3

Katy Perry's "Woman's World" is worse. By far.

      • +4

Let’s agree they are both terrible, terrible songs

    • +2

I like Rudebox, compared to Women's World, it's miles better.

"Millenium" is still my fav Robbie song.

      • Road to Mandalay song

  • at least it isnt Shannon (crucify a classic) Noll

    • +3

I'll **** your missus and your mum!

      Classic Nollsie

      • +4

I've got a car. I've got a big black shiny car.

How can someone come up with those kinds of lyrics? Pure talent.

    • I saw him at a small gig about ten years ago and he has a pretty good voice live.

  • +5

Please note, road closures will be in place between 3pm-7pm between Russell and Elizabeth Streets and Finders Street to Princess Bridge. Trams and trains will run as per regular timetable.

What time does the event start?

The event will start at 5pm and will run for approximately one hour. It will include a Q&A with Robbie Williams and a presentation of the key to the city by Lord Mayor, Nick Reece.

    • Sounds like he’s gonna have time to do about two songs haha

      • +2

I hope it's not Angels and Rock DJ, please do something else Robbie. Those songs are so overplayed. Supreme and Feel would be my choices.

        • +1

Im thinking Better man may be on the cards.

        • +1

As someone who's never been to one of his appearances, I'd be disappointed if they didn't do Rock DJ, though, for a free concert (which I probably won't drive down to), I'd still be a happy camper with Supreme.

        • Wish he sung no regrets

      • -1

Minus the 15 minutes talking about himself and another 10 bagging the fans who dare join in.
I'd say he'll drop the wonderful news during the Q&A that he's moving in. ( If he gets passed the sniffer dogs at the airport )

    • +10

Q&A: Is it true you’ve been in every Spice Girl?

      • Not quite>
        Scary +peg.

    • fed square isn’t big, i can imagine people spilling onto the street if this was working week, lucky it’s a quiet time of year and people aren’t in the city.

    • I think this post needs more attention, or should possibly be added into the original post.

Most people driving there would probably just chuck the location in their nav and find out the roads were closed as they were driving.

      • +3

lol who drives to the city?

        • Well, according to the traffic that I constantly get stuck in, it seems a lot of people.

I couldn't imagine heading to the city without having my car locally, I'd pack enough stuff for a week long Holiday when I'd just be heading out for the night.

    • -3

Doesn’t deserve a key to the city.

      • How does that become a valid reason to neg the deal?

  • +8

Saw Better Man (the movie) a few days ago without knowing much about RW and really enjoyed it. Currently watching the documentary about him on Netflix.

Seems he's really vilified by the media in the UK, somewhat similar to Harry and Meghan.

    • +5

yeah, the UK he gets a hard time, used to be a womanizer, drugs, alcohol, at his peak and single which isn’t much different to other male performers at their peak, but he’s very settled after getting married and becoming a parent.

      • That or he's just gotten more adapt to dealing with the media. 😂

        • British tabloids love to kick an old pop star around when he's no longer big enough to fight back.

      • Robbie was the Keith Richard’s of a Sunday school choir.

      • "yeah, the UK he gets a hard time,"
which is why he's kissing arse here laying the foundations to locate to Straya

    • -3

Harry and Meghan did most of that themselves though.

      • +1

She was the wrong "shade" according to the elite and they (big money & tabloids) crucified her. Harry stood by her, so they crucified him too. Hardly self inflicted.
Cancelled by the bullies as usual. Farage was right onboard as usual. He's just another strain of social media amoebic dysentery.

        • -2

Yeah, that's certainly the line Meghan likes to run.
Ultimately a b/c-grade actress used the royal family as a launchpad for global fame, but didn't care to follow the actual protocols that come with the glamourous lifestyle she married into. Then they quit, but she still wants to be known as a royal, hence the branding shenanigans.

          • @JohnHowardsEyebrows: Rubbish. It's not a line it's fact. She was targeted because the elite didn't want dilution of their precious blue blood via a "non Anglo strain". And because she wanted to maintain her 'self'. (you call it running their protocols) She didn't run the false narrative, that's the usual pro Royal MSM blame the victim, after the truth gets out M.O.Right from the top of the Royals down there was gasps of disbelief, as though Harry had married a serial killer. The Royals should thank her. She put them back in favour once again, when they were well and truly on the nose in the public's eyes. She gave them another few more dynasties going fwd.

            • @Protractor: Aside from the alleged casually racist comment from the royal family (the word casually doing a lot of work here - there's no evidence of malice), what hard proof is there that the press turned on her for being not 100% white?
The press happily went after Fergie, Di, whatever small angles they can get on the Middletons, but apparently when they go after a moderately talented actress with ambitions of climbing the society ladder, it's all to do with race?

  • +10

His NYE performance in Sydney was quite ordinary to say the least.

    • +7

If that was anything to go by, he'll forget the words, make the crowd sing most of it and be off his chops

      • +3

Agreed, he looked lazy AF! Very up himself with the 'look at me' attitude.

    • +1

He was clearly high. I loved his performance though.

    • It was average for sure. Felt low key which isnt a bad thing

  • +1

Q&A: Just how much cocaine was left in the world by the time you were finished?

  • +4

I wonder how much NSW and VIC government paid to get him here to perform…

    • +3

Whatever it was it was too much

    • least he we paid for something…not like some games

  • +5

His Better Man movie is actually decent as a biopic, worth seeing on a Tuesday or whenever you can get good discounted tix. Filmed mostly in Australia and directed by an Aussie Director

    • +1

Yeah, i thought it was a great movie. I think if it was played by a human and not a chimp it wouldnt have been as good.

      • I haven't looked up any reviews and so forth as don't want to do that before I see it, but what's the reason for the chimp being the main character?

        • -3

          Better looking,more talented,less egotistical,not narcissistic,better conversations, cheaper to run.

        • +1

According to the Director, in discussions with Robbie about his life, Robbie always referred to himself as a monkey so the Director decided to portray him as such. Artistic license and all that

        • The movie explains it. Basically hes thought of himself as a monkey.

  • Hmm weird that this deal is posted by someone from QLD.

    • Was in the news so probably they noticed it.

  • nanu nanu

  • -5

Not trying to disrespect his musical talent, but his NYE performance was so abysmal I was embarrassed that that’s what was put on for Sydney. Not supporting that and wonder how much it cost in taxes…

    It’s a no from me.

    • +5

The tabloids are correct, Australia has a serious immigration problem - stop letting Robbie Williams back in the country!

      • -1

I'll wager that he moves over here fulltime.

    • -3

Every neg you get represents another incoming truth bomb to what you said.
The monkey in his new film looks more like him, than he does.

    • +3

Not sure why you are getting down voted. the performance was terrible, was so tired and lazy he could not even sing the songs.
Sad thing was it would have been good had he just sung and stopped talking.

      • +2

It was an awful performance and perhaps if he didn’t come on with such a big ego and then sit there not singing telling the audience to sing for him then perhaps it would have been a better performance.

        • I agree, but when we didn’t pay a dime, what can you expect really. I found it sweet that lady got tickets, but that was about it.

  • -1

    Not a deal

  • Will there be any fireworks?

There would have to be, they're giving him the key to the city.

  • Was Robbie Williams from One Direction?

    • +2

      Take That

  • +1
