Refund Issued, Product Arrived Anyway

This has happened to me twice now (once on ebay, once aliexpress), where I bought a product (in the aliexpress case is it was that Black Myth Wukong controller deal ordered on black friday but didn't arrive until after xmas), it was delayed a long time and I thought it wasn't coming, I contacted them and they gave a refund, then the product arrived belatedly a few weeks later..

In both cases I reached out to the seller to offer to pay again. The ebay never responded (it's possible their seller account was hacked) or in the case of the aliexpress seller they simply said "you've paid already, no need to pay again" despite clearly stating I had gotten a refund.

This isn't a complaint, i mean free stuff right? But it does make me wonder how often this happens to you guys and what do you do?

    Google windfall. They won't be stressed, nor should you be.

    it could have been ebay or aliexpress refunding you based on their policy and not the seller them selves.

    if it was the seller that they took the funds form they would likley be in touch.

    but if it wasnt the seller refunding you, then dont worry about it.

    also as its christmas time, the seller may not be aware just yet and could be in touch soon to follow up with you.

    Had this happen a couple of times on Aliexpress. They don't (currently) have any way for sellers to re-invoice so you just have to accept the merch for free.

    I have definitely had this happen to me before but it's been a very long time I can't remember what store or what product it was any more.

    I just accepted it as finally some good karma coming my way and moved on.

    Ordered a $70 item C&C from Jaycar I saw on here . A few hours later realized I probably wouldn't use it. Sent them an email with my order number and requested a refund. Didn't hear back for 3 weeks so I just went in store and collected it. Got the $70 back in my account a week later.

    Ordered a USB cable extender from Aliexpress. Didn't come in 6 weeks, requested a refund. Arrived literally two days later. Felt bad so I contacted them and they said to just order another one, let them know the order number and they won't send it. 4 weeks later and another cable came.

    I imagine it happens a bit with Amazon. It can be very easy to get refunds even for items that are just delayed. I imagine some people apply for a refund the moment it's available and hope the item comes later.

    I ordered some clothes from overseas. When they didn’t turn up after a while I asked for a refund and said I would contact them to reinvoice if it ever got delivered. It took a couple of months but the package finally got delivered so I contacted them and they reinvoiced me. I got the goods so it was only proper I contact them and pay the price. They were astonished I had contacted them and thanked me. Building up my Karma points.

    I'm really patient. I'll wait up to 8 weeks for overseas purchases before attempting a refund.

    For lost packages AliExpress stores get a refund through the postal insurance.
