    Any 180-220cm?

    • It looks like 160x75cm is the largest size on sale. There is also 150x70cm.

Not sure what the side of the desktop is but assuming it's some sort of particle board - do yourself a favour and get a 50-100 dollar benchtop from bunnings.

Cut it to the same size (bunnings can do this for you) and pre-drill the holes in the same places as the benchtop. Use a one-layer stain and coat to your preference. Mount the new table top and you've turned a 250 dollar desk into something that can last much, much longer. You'd need the tools obviously but a drill would be the only thing you need.

That's great if you have the time, and the energy. It'd be a mission just to assemble the desk with the instructions and provided tools. If these are bad quality, I'd rather just spend some more money and get something decent to assemble.

What's wrong with using the desktop that comes with it until you need to replace it? Chances are the particle board or MDF or even Ikea's hexagonal filler can last a long time too, the laminated surface is a lot more hard wearing and water resistant than a layer of stain.

Sure, go for a bench top if you like the aesthetic of it, but they are also narrower, typically 60cm. Desktops are usually 75-80cm.

Fair enough if you are buying a frame that doesn't come with a top, but this deal already includes a top, it doesn't sense to immediately discard it and then spend extra and do a whole bunch of work to come up with something that is less functional.

    • This looks exactly like the one I bought few years ago. Table top is sturdy and quite resistant to scratchese. Kids keep hitting it while turning the chair and I just need to wipe off the black marks from thr chair. Bunnings benchtop is a good idea but it has more flex. May need to put couple of supports under the bench top.

    • I've been looking to do something like this for a while. Didn't know Bunnings would cut it to size for you?

      • Yeah there are some restrictions like they won’t do any cuts 20-30 cm from the edge or something. It’s listed online if you check their website.

    • +1

Tossing out a perfectly good desktop because you irrationally hate particleboard is ridiculous - and I go out of my way to avoid particleboard crap.

  • Are these desks any good? Worth the $260 price tag?

    • +2

Certainly tickets all the boxes, namely:

      • Dual motor
      • 3 stage
      • Rated 120kg

Many cheaper ones are single motor 2 stage.

no usb ports for charging devices :(

        • +14

And no cooktop too. Can't make ramen at my desk. :(

          • +2

@Munki: No toilet paper dispenser. Waste of money!!

      • What's the benefit of a dual motor over a single motor?
I have a single motor from OW, and the only problem that I have with it is the sturdiness of the desk, which I guess the one-leg-on-each-size is the cause.

        • +1

I bonk my knees on the single motor in the middle (office works desk)

          • @myr: you can try to turn that motor away from you, reducing the risk of bonking. Also, I've seen single-motor desks where the motor is offset to one side (I'm not sure why they don't all do that)

    • Mm… mate has one of these. The table itself doesn't feel high quality, the motors can get stuck, and, well, it feels like an motorised $80 desk is what I'd say.

  • Can these be used outdoors?

    • It's not IP rated, so indoor only.

      • Not having an IP rating doesn't mean something isn't water resistant. It just means it hasn't been officially accredited to have one.

You can certainly use it outdoors. It's that it might break if water or particles gets into the more sensitive components. Although it might not be too bad to use it outdoors as long as it's mostly sheltered from the elements (especially water).

Seems shipping isn't free across Melbourne metropolitan. ~$50 delivered for the outer circle.

    Also similar priced for:
    - Black with straight edge (https://www.mydeal.com.au/fortia-160cm-height-adjustable-sta…)
    - Walnut with straight edge (https://www.mydeal.com.au/fortia-160cm-height-adjustable-sta…)

  • 128cm height range? Is that enough for a standing desk?

    • Should be unless you're fairly tall (like 195cm+)

    • I'm 182cm tall, and usually set the height at 115cm

  • OOS?

    • Seems some colours are OOS

  • White Oak sold out, still available in black and walnut in the links posted above by xmagic.

    • Walnut is also OOS. Seems going pretty fast.

  • This or the IKEA Mittzon?

    • arent those $500/$600

  • Thank you OP, bought a black one.

  • +1

Cheers OP picked up a 150cm. HNY!

    • Link? Most are oos

  • Is it faster than the single motor? Does it have self driving?

    • +1

      HODL for the cyberdesk

  • Anyone got their Westpac cashback tracked?

    • Mine got tracked.

      • Hmm only Mydeal got tracked. Can't find the Westpac if it was able to track or not.

        • It took like 10 mins or so to get the westpac one. But both tracked without hassle.

  • +1

Oh, didn't realise that there was an option for 150 cm wide ones, which will fit better, but there was not the black one. I guess bigger is better in this case.

For those who didn't manage to buy here, there are some options available via eBay https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/383476379145?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…

    • +1

Cheers. Got one for $312 delivered. Thank you for eBay link.

      • My pleasure

I've never heard of them before, but I found these guys with a similar price koaladesks.com.au
Seems to be a similar dual motor setup.

      • Were you able to use the $49 email voucher as well?
Claiming on tax will sweeten the deal even further.

Seems to be a similar dual motor setup.

Description says 2x dual motors. Does that equal 4 motors.

        • +1

I was able to use the $49, so the desk was $205 ?

I have the order, and their customer service responded when i needed to change a typo in the address.
will update when I actually have the desk.

          I guess only 2 motors.

          • @Sekhmet2077: Thanks for the reply and future update
It was actually $40, my finger slipped.

            • @CandyMan: Yer, I think koala desks is a scam site.
Ordered and they have been stalling and giving excuses for not having a tracking number.
I'm going to do a charge back.

        • same thing happened to me. No tracking number provided and keep pushing on delivery date. when i googled, it shown as scam site. Did a chargeback via bank.

  • Just received my 150cm desk and there is no desktop even though the manual says it includes it. The parcel that arrived says 1 of 1 on the shipping label. Did anyone get theirs successfully? And if so how big was the box? Did your shipping label say 1 of 2? Thanks.

    • I bought a 150cm one. I did get a desktop. It came in two boxes and it says 1 of 2 on the shipping label

      • Thanks for the confirmation! I've raised a ticket.

    • I got the opposite problem. Mine shipped with no legs. Have raised a ticket. Also says 1 of 1.

      • I had the same issue. Lodge ticked and they refunded full as there is no stock.
That means got table top for free.i really need base.

  • Anyone not received there desk yet, mine been “held in processing” this entire week from Hunter Express

    • was the same, but mine is out for delivery today…

  • Mine arrived last week. Just put it together.
Instructions could be better but managed to work it out.
Particularly on the saving of height settings.

  • Received mine, ordered 160cm, was meant to be dual motors, but it is only SINGLE motor.
    Misleading ad.

    • My 150cm is dual motor. Are you sure you received the correct item? What did other people get?

      • Dual motor means two black boxes right?
I only got one black box that connects to both legs.

        • In my one, the motor is inside each leg, there's a single black box connecting them that controls both the motors.

          • @Uphill: Thanks, I thought the black box was the motor?
            My mistake.
