110% agree I washed my drink bottle and the smell was terrible and could not get rid of the smell.
Finish lemon tablet leave a disgusting chemical lemon taste and smell on plates and plastic containers specifically.. switched to Finish 0% and will see how it goes
Yes we use Finish Ultimate Powerball 0% and it leaves no residual smell.
Same issue here. Information I wish I knew before I bought several hundred of the bloody things a couple of years ago on a super sale.
I resolved the issue simply by cutting the tablets in half (smell and taste gone). Whilst it's PITA, at least the tablets aren't wasted.
It seems that the tablets are just far too strong for the small amount of water (~4litres for each cycle) used in Australian machines. I can't wait to finally get through them all and move back to powder.
At 24c per wash, this is is still poor value. These basic Fairy tablets are no better than (and probably inferior to) the basic ALDI brand basic tablet for 14c per wash.
Choice claims that the ALDI premium tablet is among the best products on the market at any price, and it's 26c per wash.
If you have issues with wash performance with cheap tablets, do these things first:
Checking the spray arms now that's one I haven't done. Thanks.
These are not “basic Fairy tablets”. These are the top of their range platinum plus ones.
Ah, my mistake. This means it's a value roughly on par with the everyday price of ALDI's most expensive option.
Aldi premium tablet has discontinued, replaced by the capsule at 0.24 each.
I'd prefer to pay 20c for the old tablet, but 26c for the new formula still remains an unbeatable value. Choice's test suite ranked the new tablet it equal first, alongside a Finish capsule at 5X the cost.
Do they taste better than Tide?
I wouldn't use this if it were free. Leaves a nasty stench on my dishes.
I thought it was pretty well established that these fancy tabs are just bells and whistles. The 13.5c each Shine tabs are washing my dishes as good as the $1 each finish tabs.
The cheapest product on the market will work perfectly on dishes that would have rinsed clean if you held them under under hot water tap for a minute. If that's all you're ever washing, even the 13.5c Shine tabs are a rip-off compared to powder detergent at half the price per wash.
The difference comes with tough dirt like coffee stains, or casserole dishes with baked-on cheese, or a steel frypan used to cook eggs. Superior formulas (most notably ALDI's 26c capsule) can do a noticeably better job here.
I've had the same idea too before coming across this Technology Connection guy on YouTube who made a video comparing these products, and the experiments do suggest the cheap ones are prefectly capable of baked-on stains as well. Although I personally don't bake much and always soak my dishes before loading the dishwasher, so maybe part of the reason I don't notice any difference.
That is very good price
Kmarts finish boxing day deal of 20 for 110 was awesome.
Horrible product, leave a chemical smell on plates, finish tablet is better
