I signed up to the basic plan for $5/month for 12 months when it was on sale during Black Friday. I've been happy enough with it, there are only a few ads (on an hour long tv show there are only 2 ad breaks for about 2-3 min each). Doesn't bother me at all. I usually watch Binge on my tablet so 1080p is perfectly acceptable. Decent deal and pretty good selection of content.

    • Last time I tried Binge a year ago, you couldn’t download content for offline. Until you can it’s useless to me , for overseas trips and the train to work every day

When do they pay me the $2?

  • +10

I get this all the time, between the two or three accounts I'd used (or trialled), it's always on.

$2 is all it's worth. The amount of ads you get varies greatly, some shows don't have any ads, other shows will have a 2 minute adbreak every 6 or 7 minutes like real TV and there's no telling what the show you want will have.

Curb Your Enthusiasm, lots of ads.
90 Day Fiance, not a single ad.

Yep surely paying for ads is crazyyy

      • … and using own broadband quota to download them.

      • Yeah sounds like Foxtel, how dare we pay a fortune to watch their ads

    • I tried Binge basic once. Never again.

  • I think that's why I prefer the streaming services I work through with Disney, Apple, Britbox and Prime. They don't have advertisements. Maybe the occasional trailer for an upcoming series but there is a Skip button to get to the program.

Prime introduced ads :( Unless you pay that extra now?

I hate the ads on prime

I’ll be binning prime when the annual sub comes up. Not enough decent content to warrant paying extra for no ads.

@Rkel403: No one, I mean no one gets Prime for the streaming. People stream it because it comes free with their shopping subscription. Amazon know this, hence why they put ads in. I laugh when people say they are deleting their accounts because of ads, best joke of 2024.

@BatmanAU: I got Prime STRICTLY for the streaming (man in the high castle and the expanse).
Binned it as soon as they started having ads.
I do most of my online shopping on eBay. Not Amazon.

@ginmi: Fair enough, I shouldn’t say ‘no one’ then LOL

              • @ginmi: I had prime tv before I had prime delivery, they have some of the best quality originals of any streamer. To suggest otherwise disagrees with imdb ratings for nearly everything they have produced , the Boys is excellent.

            • @BatmanAU: While it is advertised as “free” it’s not really, it’s part of the appeal of the package you are paying for. I would agree that I setup rolling prime membership years ago primarily for free shipping but honestly looking at what I order, rarely bargains on there and most orders are over the free shipping without prime threshold anyway. I think I could live without the $80 subscription and notice very little difference to my prime usage. Spending $150mill on some BS beast games tv show is not really where I see quality tv coming from

              • @Rkel403: Good argument, but I buy a lot and a majority of the public would buy a lot to justify the subscription. Personally, I think Prime Video is garbage as I find myself scrolling for ages to find anything decent to watch. Mind you Netflix is becoming the same and starting to remind me of Foxtel.

                • @BatmanAU: Agreed, felt really short changed this Christmas, absolutely nothing worth watching on any of the streaming services

  • wow $2, makes me almost want to ditch my sonarr/radarr setup

  • Trying to lock people in before Max starts streaming here and a big chunk of their library disappears.

    • Plus Foxtel used to have Showtime and comedy and mtv tv as the licence rolls off that will be all exclusive to Paramount +
