Is this good for letting pot grow?

  • We all know why they call it " letpot"

  • LetdevilsLettuce

  • I bought one of these last year but haven't used it yet.

I thought this was a decent review at the time- Letpot Review

I liked the idea of these units , but just haven't quite made the space in my office to setup and run continuously

Are these good for growing "herbs"?

    • Herbs yes, "herbs" no

      • I can vouch for that.

To answer everyone's question about weed, no, they're not good. Light isn't powerful enough, but you can get some lights for cheaper than this kit on amazon

Has anyone tried moving hydroponic plants into soil? I’ve been told plants develop different roots when cultivated in water as opposed to soil, and they don’t do well when moved. If it can be done, this would be perfect for growing seedlings then planting them outdoors in the real world.

    • I have a similar unit. It does work, but you need really use a heap of water for a few days after you transplant them. The plant will often stall for a while as it gets used to the new environment. It’s not really cost effective, as you have to use one of the peat plugs to grow the seed in, and you can’t seperate the plant form that once it sprouts.

Thanks for sharing. The main reason for me wanting to do this is because of insects, plus I really liked the fragrance of the tomato plant, the idea of keeping some on the desktop is really appealing.

I had a ton of tomato seedlings last year and was waiting for them to grow bigger before transplanting, some caterpillars got to them. I kept picking them off, but they kept respawning, like a tower defence, they eventually got my base. Then there were a couple I kept at a different side of the house that were attacked by ants hired by aphids. I used bleach to finally got rid of them all, then it was already winter. I wrapped a plastic bag around the plant to keep it warm, it eventually produced a tiny tomato before dying.

  • Does it require an internet cxn and continual access to the company’s servers to work? Some of the reviews state that it stops working when it loses wifi access, and someone mentioned that it will be a brick if the company goes out of business. Are these concerns accurate?

      A very good question

    • Not according to the above video review

I was sent this model for review last year and was impressed.
I used it for herbs, strawberries and lettuce in the kitchen and have also grown small tomatoes in it.
I've transplanted tomatoes and strawberries out into soil and they were fine.
The lid with the lighting, moves up to a good height as things grow and the lighting system is quite good as it is adjustable in options and cycles.

Everything was good quality and the kit came with everything you need, except for seeds. I like that they give you stickers that cover any unused holes, so light does not get into the water.

Once the plants get growing, it really does look nice with all the healthy plants growing together and no bugs! So good growing strawberries right up to fully ripe and not a single worry about a pest.

    • Thanks for sharing your experiences with it

  • Compared to the Idoo hydroponics kits this does not come with a built-in fan for air movement over the plants. Do you see this as an issue?

    • I’ve had two iDoo units and the light has gone on both of them in two years. They grew things very well, but were clearly built to a (very low) price.

(I should also say I have the spider farmer version of this now, and the difference between the light intensity is almost literally night and day - I’d recommend looking out for a special on that unit, it’s excellent)

        • Looks like they have a few versions wifi/ non wifi. Do you think wifi is necessary

  • Not much different to this:

Plus, buy 1, get 2nd at 50% off. Ebay plus free 2-4 day postage

  • Anyone know of a better looking/quality version of this? Like the idea but will need something less cheap looking to get it past the wife.
