Makita UR013GZ01 40V Max Li-ion Cordless Brushless U-Handle Line Trimmer - Skin Only

If you've bought the lawn mower on special then perhaps you may be looking for a line cutter/brushcutter skin as well?

This is Makita's most powerful 1.5kW line trimmer/brushcutter in the 40V XGT range.

Total Tools wouldn't price match as they had none in stock and had a "purchase stop" for it (it sounded like Makita Australia don't have any in stock either for a backorder to be made?)

Sydney Tools also has a UR013GT202 kit deal which includes the UR013GZ01 line trimmer/brushcutter, 2x BL4050F (191L47-8) 5Ah batteries, a DC40RA (191E09-4) charger and 40V XGT UB001GZ blower via redemption for $899 at https://sydneytools.com.au/product/makita-ur013gt202-40v-lii… which may be useful if you need more batteries and another charger. There are more Sydney Tools locations with this kit in stock.

    Basically no stock anywhere

    • You can just set it for C&C from any store. I got a call from the selected store to confirm that they'll order it in from Makita when they return from Christmas leave. They don't have an ETA from Makita.

There are more stores showing stock of the $899 kit that includes 2 batteries, charger and blower by redemption whereas the skin is showing as extremely limited stock.

      • Total tools only has 1 in Queensland and Sydney Tools has 29 in Australia. However, I am reluctant due to the weight of the tool, it seems very heavy, 7.1kg with the battery

      • I am assuming this is the older model as the newer ones have faster rpm at 1kw power and 1kg lighter also means more runtime and about the same price:
        https://toolkitdepot.com.au/makita-40v-max-brushless-high-ou…

        • The full set of models are:

          UR002 (U)/UR003 (loop): 0.55kW, 350mm cutting width, 4.7-5.3kg with BL4050F battery, 0-6500rpm/0-5300rpm/0-3500rpm, reverse function
          UR017 (loop): 0.6kW, 330mm cutting width, 5.3kg with BL4050F battery, 0-7000rpm/0-5500rpm/0-4600rpm
          UR006 (U)/UR007 (loop): 1kW, 430mm cutting width, 5.9-6.3kg with BL4050F battery, 0-7000rpm/0-5500rpm/0-4600rpm, reverse function
          UR013 (U)/UR014 (loop): 1.5kW, 450mm cutting width, 6.1-7.2kg with BL4050F battery, 0-5700rpm/0-4000rpm
          UR012 (U only): 2kW, 480mm cutting width, 9.3kg with 2x BL4050F batteries, 0-6400rpm/0-5000rpm/3500rpm

Loop handle models are the lighter than their U handle counterparts. However, U handle counterparts would be used with a harness meaning that the weight of the tool rests on the shoulders.

Full comparison tables at https://dtis8tdmkp4fg.cloudfront.net/products/outdoor-power-… (U handle) and https://dtis8tdmkp4fg.cloudfront.net/products/cordless/xgt-4… (loop handle).

This UR013/UR014 model on sale is perhaps more suitable for cutting reeds, thick native grass clumps, bracken, etc with a metal blade because it has a higher power output (more torque). These models are perhaps what you might see council workers using if they're working with tougher plants and not just grass. The UR002/UR003 models are perhaps best suited to lighter/occasional grass trimming. And the UR006/UR007 models in the middle seem to be the ones commercial lawn maintenance companies may choose to make a typical lawn maintenance job quicker to complete.
