  • hi peeps, any comment on this monitor?
very attractive pricing, but can't really pull the trigger after seeing reviews of kogan monitors.
interested to get the 38" one.

  • The 38 doesn't appear to be HDR. Fairly low peak brightness means it will struggle a bit in a room with high ambient light

  • There's something I'm having trouble understanding.

Type C USB with power. The general gist of it is easy and well explained.

But, specifically, which device supplies power to which. Is there some secret word in the spec that tells me?

So Kogan sells some big monitors like these that logic - and the 65W in the spec of one of the USB C ports - says must be supplying power back down the USB cable to the computer that is sending the image and sound signals the other way. And it sells portable monitors that logic says must be being powered down the USB cable by the computer.

But somewhere in the middle there are computers that say they support PD, and screens that say they do, and what happens with them? How do I know when it says they support that feature that they support it as a supplier of power to the other or a deliveree of power from the other, or both, and do they always get that right?

Power from monitor into laptop so you don’t need a charger.

Source: i have the 40” monitor listed here.

I got the 40 inch 5k ultrawide earlier this year.
Had to send the first one back for a dead pixel but otherwise it has been great for WFH.
Make sure you have a high quality USB C cable that supports DP alt mode.

I did have to upgrade my work laptop to support the monitor resolution, for Intel integrated graphics you need 11th gen or newer. For my home PC I got a graphics card, some of the cheaper cards don't support this resolution.

    • @Alexxx, could you elaborate a bit more about the cable for 40 inch one, I have Dell38 which has same resolution as 38 kogan one accordingly and I am wondering if I can use same usb-c cable for kogan 40 ?

      • Should be fine if it works on the 38 one with the same resolution.

        • I mean if cable for 38 one (wqhd+ resolution) works for 40 wuhd ?

    • one more question: was it just one dead pixel ? how painful was that procedure with kogan ?

      • +1

I took multiple photos with different colours to show them the issue (used an online dead pixel finder).
They accepted the warranty claim straight away but it was sold out by then so had to wait a while for the replacement.
I told them I had already thrown out the box so didn't need to return the faulty one until I had received the replacement.
