It should not be surprising to learn that this item has never sold for RRP. Putting RRP in the title/description should be a bannable offence imho if never sold at that price.
Bannable?
Are you serious, get over yourself.
Completely.
It is illegal for a retailer to list "RRP" if the item has never sold at that price, so OzB should be consistent with the law by eliminating use of misleading RRP.
@pennypacker: How is the poster supposed to know if it's never been sold at that price?
Are they supposed to time travel and check every single retailer ever?
@KenDiaMoi: Are you still going?
No. But checking the history on camels before blithely repeating whatever Amazon tells you would be a good thing to do. Amazon is notorious for listing RRPs that the item has never sold for, which as explained above is illegal. Including these fanciful RRPs in a post doesn't make it a bargain.
@pennypacker: History on camels will just show what it's been sold at on Amazon.
What if it never sold for RRP on Amazon, but at other retailers.
Brain dead
What if it never sold for RRP on Amazon, but at other retailers.
Irrelevant, because the post was for Amazon. I never suggested checking the price history of all retailers. I thought that was obvious enough in my previous reply to you, but clearly not.
You: Are they supposed to time travel and check every single retailer ever?
Me: No.
Let me make it crystal clear for you. When posting a deal from Amazon, don't post the stated RRP because 9 times out of 10, it's fantasy. Posting a fantasy RRP doesn't make something a deal.
Here's a good example of a decent deal with no RRP mentioned - Dyson V8 Extra Cordless Vacuum Cleaner $374 Delivered @ Amazon AU.
See? It's not difficult.
@pennypacker: Relevant because you said it's illegal to list RRP if it never sold at that price, but even if Amazon never sold it at that price, what if another retailer has sold it at RRP.
Why shouldn't people post the RRP if they want. More information is better.
I'm with you, Kramer. RRP is irrelevant and should be confined to vendors websites.
Simply stating the price in the title should be enough to substantiate the quality of deal for most people.
Elaborating in the description, like "all-time low" or price tracking is actually useful too.RRP is for suckers but retailers use it to manipulate consumers. There's no RRP in a free market!
Everyone has their own preferences, it looks damn ugly.
Also not sapphire glass ? at that price point
Can’t disagree, it’s a little crass.
Sapphire, chrono, date, Seiko movement, greater legibility AND cheaper:
