This previously popular SSD is back on sale and this time it's cheaper than before. Given the low price this is perfectly fine for use a game storage drive or inserted in a 2.5" enclosure for use as a portable SSD.
This one is offering sequential write speeds up to 500MB/s, sequential read speeds up to 480MB/s with a 300TBW and pSLC cache instead of DRAM cache.
As for the technical aspects I checked out a heap of Japanese/Russian reviews and even asked Orico directly to verify. The 1TB capacity SSDs are using Intel QLC flash memory with either SMI or Yeestor controllers depending on the batch. QLC + DRAMless is why it's so cheap compared to ones with TLC and/or DRAM.
Have had a decent run with Orico equipment; did not know they were in the SSD market.
If they could produce a 4tb for around $250 or a 5tb for around $315, could be the end of portable hard disc drives.
