    40% only

    • So?

      • -8

Won’t even give me a hangover with that ABV will rather drink water

      • This is a whiskey influencer/YouTuber cultural osmosis thing

      • +2

40% is the watered down version Australia gets.
If you ever pick it up overseas (duty free) you get the 43% which I lthink tastes better.

Fellas is there an easy way to find these deals on the amazon site?

    • +2

      No

    • Nah just keep your eyes on OzBargain

    • +1

Set price alerts on camelcamelcamel but you’d have to do it by item so you’d also have to be lucky as to which alerts you set

    OOS

  • Still avails after a few refreshes, I'm bit taking it…

  • +1

It still shows me $49.70 after coupon but not sure this vs single malt whiskey?
ohh well, now oos, saved 50 bucks.

You saved $50, it’s not a great bourbon unless you like to drink mixers.

Even in an old fashioned it is unremarkable

      • I am not expert on whiskeys, but I feel I betray my fellow gunslingers if I don't accompany while watching them

        • Lol. I used to love Bud Spencer and Terrence Hill when I was younger

My pick on easy to get cheap bourbons is Makers Mark 46 of you can get it for around the $65 price point (it Usually happens when you get a 20% cashback through cash rewards, et al). The 46 is much, much nicer than the regular Makers. I tend to keep two types of bourbons, one for cocktails (usually Makers 46) and the other for sipping neat (which there are a few I like)

      • What's a good bourbon in Australia for an old fashioned.

        • +1

          See above post

          • @Gunnar: Thank you. Will give Makers Mark 46 a try. I've only used JD, JB and Buffalo Trace (when on special).

            • @tman2020: How did you find Buffalo? I’ve tried it but thought it is pretty uninteresting. I found Regular Makers better than Buffalo (and the 46 much better again)

With an old fashioned I’ve found higher ABV booze makes them nicer because of the ice and sugar (I drink whiskies - and most spirits - neat hence why this position, YMMV).

If anything, for whisky based cocktails Rye works nicer than bourbon and single malts because the rye adds more spice (than corn in bourbon and barley in whisky) so it’s a bit more interesting on the palette when you add the other stuff to a cocktail

              • @Gunnar: Same, nothing too special about Buffalo Trace buy fimd it better than JD and JB. Buy I only use to mix with coke and old fashioneds. Thanks for the tip on rye, good to know.

                • @tman2020: I wouldn’t use 46 with coke, old fashioned yes, coke no (so depending on how much you use it for each you can make a call to see if the extra for the 46 is worth it)

                  • +1

@Gunnar: Cheers mate. I was after something decent for OF so will try the MM46. JD or BT are my go to for coke.

                    • @tman2020: All good.

I haven’t found a cheapish Rye yet. Gospel Straight Rye is really nice (Solera is also great but Straight is better) and also worth grabbing with the 20% cashback dealies which will bring it to about $70-80 a bottle with cashback. Archie Rose Rye duty free ($100 for a litre) is also worth grabbing for cocktails and basic sipping. Gospel Straight is a nicer drink but 1L DF Archie Rose is better bang for buck (nicer ryes are more expensive)

  • Damn, been waiting for a bourbon deal to popup , and I missed it :/

    • Dans have Buffalo Trace on special for $54.95

Lot better than woodford reserve. Also look for Eagle Rare, if you can find it under $80

    • Waiting for Wild Turkey 101.

      • Not a fan of the 101 I have to say; more alcohol for less taste IMHO. Their Longbranch is a nicer drop, for my personal taste.

        • +1

Fair enough, its my goto now over the standard. I believe it used to be better when it was aged 8 years.

  • 33min oos. Are you all f5’ing this page?!?

  • Need some rhum deals, too many whisky already 😅

    • +1

Captain Morgan Gingerbread spiced rum is cheap on Amazon, no coupon though

  • Just wandering.. How we can locate these deals on Amazon directly.. Coz by the time i checked here it already gone.. 🤔🤔🤔
