I've started using clear plumber's glue for plastic to plastic bonds. It works really well especially for PLA filament 3D prints, and it's a fraction of the price. It seems to partially dissolve the plastic causing the parts to fuse.

Can you link to which one you use?

    • A lot of them works by melting the plastics together, which may not work depending on the job you want to use it for.

I think I used to have some MEK at home when I was super into fountain pens and repairs. :P

    • That's how the plastic model kit glue works also, it melts polystyrene, but wont glue your fingers together, and only works on specific types of plastics.

    • Thank you LizardSpock, this is why I clicked the deal, cheap PLA glue.

  • Can i use this for my shoes? Bought the shoe goo recommended by others and it was horrible.

I bought some cheap goop off aliexpress that did the job

Bought some other cheap goop that fixed my rear parking sensor in place (some idiot had poked it in), where superglue failed miserably.

TLDR; buy cheap goop off aliexpress

        Whats the cheap goop

Not sure about the cheap stuff, but you can get the expensive stuff from Gwyneth Paltrow. Don't know how sticky it is, but it's certainly tacky.

this is the stuff I used for car parking sensor - has stayed on for 6 months so far, even in the crazy heat we've been having in sydney lately.

was cheaper back then, $7 from memory

EDIT: oh yeah the stuff is so strong the bottle cap arrived all sealed shut lol

    • For shoes for many years, I use CONTACT ADHESIVE PARFIX 500ML FAST GRIP
The best one, even for many other purposes.

    • Doubt this would work for shoes - it won’t form a flexible bond, and therefore when tour shoes flex, this bond will break.

This is all reminding me of the Perth Redditor who asked for urgent help getting his arse unstuck a board he was gluing up - https://www.reddit.com/r/perth/comments/athqae/who_do_you_ca…

i never quite understand why that generation feels to need to share every single detail of their life with the world, but on occasions like this, I'm glad they do.
