      I suspect many of us "can" buy it but very few can afford to buy it without incurring a significant opportunity cost and thinking twice (eg. crypto bros). people who can afford these cars don't think about how much maintenance it is. It's like buying an iPhone for 1.6k vs a $500 android on a 300k salary - it's all the same to them.
