I keep notes every year growing veges and these guys have sold me unintentionally cross-bred tomatoes and other veggies on multiple occasions.
IE breeds that are not 'true' and correct. Presumably not being pollen isolated when flowering. So I cannot recommend them at all.
Sorry OP, not crapping on your deal- the price is good but I want to share my experience with others so they are not disappointed

That's fair, for me I just want to be able to harvest my own produce so as long as I get something that tastes good I'm not too fussed on how "true" the varieties are. Good to know though if looking to splurge on a more premium product of theirs.

Can echo this sentiment when it comes to their chilli seeds, if they germinate at all.

Yeah need a reliable seed source.
Ive been using boondie seeds. Only one questionable batch.

      • +2

Boondie have been very consistent for me - no issues to report.
The Diggers Club have excellent integrity but pricey. Sometimes they are the only ones that have particular varieties
Tassie Seeds on eBay have been excellent too - I can recommend them https://www.ebay.com.au/str/tassieseeds

I got a popup with a coupon: use coupon "HAPPYVALLEYSEEDS" at checkout for an additional 7% off.

  • Good timing, just got into gardening as a hobby. Have sliced up supermarket tomatoes and cherry tomatoes and got them sprouting but will take a look at this site. I did find another site selling 50c sample sized packs of about 10-20 seeds

Tomato seeds are a great starting point, especially cherry tomatos. I have chickens so have the plants pop up around the yard sometimes after they have eaten them. Unfortunately I dont like tomatos but my wife does. Basil is a easy one to keep as well, plus home mase pesto is easy and deliscous to make with it.

Thanks, I've ordered a bunch of seeds and hoping to grow something to at least keep me motivated. I've ordered spinach and butter lettuce seeds as they claim to be ready for harvest in as little as four weeks

Keep your carrot tops, onion, garlic & lettuce bottoms, potato sprouts & seeds from fruit. It's pretty fun to utilise food waste like that.

      • +1

Yep, trying that with some cos lettuce from the supermarket and also onions. Have put some potatoes in as well but doubt they will grow as they're too fresh. Will buy some garlic to try

      • Except carrot tops grows nothing but greens. You can't get a carrot to grow from a carrot top

        • I watched a YouTube video that showed otherwise. It produced skinny carrots, nothing really worthwhile eating but did work
