  • Can this credit be used on uber when overseas

    • +3

      Nope

  • Is it a no for both food and rides

    • -1

I'm not sure about food, but will probably be the same. I just made this mistake. Loaded my Uber account with discounted gift cards planning to use it overseas. I thought Uber would take the local currency and covert it to AU$ and then deduct from my credit. This is not that case. Found this out the hard way. I now have an Uber account, which I hardly use locally, with lots of credit.

    • No for both, even Uber One does not work overseas

    • Yeah it's a no, your wallet has separate balances for different currencies

Reminder that you can change payment methods for orders/trips within 30 days- easy 10% refund for everything since 18th November.

    • Make sure you have enough balance to cover the whole amount. It doesn't seem to allow you to swap payment method to uber cash and another method to cover the rest.

Eg I had a 52 trip. Loaded 50 in uber gc to my account. Did not allow me to apply the balance to the trip retrospectively.

It allowed me to do so once I put another 5 bux gc into my account.

    • massively underrated tip, thanks for this

    • I had a look at the app and they don't make it easy/obvious you can do this.

Select the order -> View receipt -> Switch payment method

and this takes you to their help? It then has free text field for

      • switch payment to
      • last 4 digits of card
      • share additional details

it doesn't look like an automated process? Each of those fields are mandatory too, if I want to swap my payment method to gift card, why do I need the last 4 digits of the card? or is it the card that I used to pay (to get refund)?

      • Just hit the "Switch payment to" and select uber cash- it'll refund it. In my experience, it's almost instantaneous too!

        • It is a free text, not a drop down.

Also doesn't let me submit unless I enter last 4 digits of card and additional details.

EDIT: okay, I selected an order that had split payment between uber cash and card, which is why I had that prompt. For orders with only card it is a lot easier. Thanks!

    • I've taken 10 trips within the last 30 days and the original payment method was Google Pay. I've managed to switch the payment method for 5 of those trips to the 10% off gift cards but it won't let me switch the payment for the remaining 5… Anyone else come across this issue?

  • are these issued instantly and do they sit across both uber/uber eats? have some use for uber trips in next few days, but otherwise rarely use uber trips - can soak it up with UE though?

    • +1

Uber eats and Uber gift cards, & their balances can be used on either service. When adding gift cards to your uber account, they appear in either app or website.

I received the email within 5 mins of purchase, added it to my Uber app and the account credit also appeared in my Uber Eats account.

I was able to change the payment method of a previous order in Uber Eats.

      • So easy to do! As said - GC arrived in 5mins, added and then updated old payments in 30 days. can already see the refund authorisations on my cc, so have used it mostly up. Thanks!

I find that Ubers are generally 10-20% more expensive than Didis in my neighborhood (and Didi earns Velocity points), so this balances things out somewhat. More value in using this for Uber Eats orders.

    • Sometimes more than 50% when using didi travel for long distance trip.

  • does using these gift cards negate the uberone benefits linked to debit card?

    • +1

      Not at all.
