    Cheers, got 1.
Been dealing with a strainer that doesn’t fit the sink hole for years, our one has a bit of an odd size, the Bunnings ones are either a little too big or too small…hope this one solves problem.

Love oxo gear. I am a sucker for full set bonuses.

I’m in a worse situation, my strainer is square, can’t be replaced at all…

      • Look at hafele

  • +14

I just waffle stomp everything down the drain and hope for the best.

    • +7

      What about your sink though?

      • +3

        waffle punch

So did I until my house sewer line got blocked. I think there were tree roots that had started collecting the debris.

      • That's a problem with your pipes, not what you put in there.
Crack in pipe = tree roots find the leaks and grow towards the water —> into the pipes.

If there were no cracks in the pipe, no leaking water, no tree roots would find their way there.

Yeah I realise that. I've watched plenty of Drain Addict on the tube!

    • +2

Fark I couldn't stop laughing at this!
6 year lurker first ever comment hah

  • Even the sink strainer on its own is good.

Why on earth is the first product option called "Casual"- is that a colour, or some totally different product (looks like a plug).

    • +1

I think that’s the deal, which is now $26 rather than $14… it’s the sink strainer and stopper. The other item for $12 is just the strainer.

  • +1

    Thanks OP

  • nah anything more than $10 for a sink strainer is a no go

    • Suggestions?

  • Seem to need a very deep sinkhole at 4.3 cm ? Mine's only a couple of centimetres.

      Did you see this review:

      ——-

The product is a good idea, but there are some really fatal design flaws:

      1. Requires deep (>7cm) drain to sit flat or the plug function won't work.

      2. Requires flat and wide drain or won't sit flush. Therefore plug AND strain functions won't work.

      3. Allows water to pool around the silicon edge so water won't drain completely out of your sink.

IF you have the right drain for it, could be an amazing product. But I'll never know.

Measure your drain before you buy. You'll need AT LEAST 11cm diameter and 7cm depth for this to work.

      • Yes i did read that, turned me off purchasing.

How is this better than a standard strainer from Bunnings? - https://www.bunnings.com.au/kinetic-stainless-steel-sink-str…

I don't get quite what this does

    • the one posted here has a strainer AND a plug function that you select by twisting the knoblet on top, so it's a 2 in 1. The bunnings one is just a strainer.

      • +7

Actually the Bunnings Kinetic one works as a Strainer and a Plug for me. Push it down and it plugs the sink. Pull it out and leave it in the drain, and it strains. Pull the whole thing out and empty the food remnants into the bin - seems simple enough!

        • +1

That's what I'm thinking! I love OXO, but not sure if it's a huge improvement. Maybe slightly nicer to use with the twist action.

@JSONBourne: How do people "love" this brand?

            • @Jackson: Because almost all the stuff they make is excellent quality?

              • -1

@dirkgonnadirk: I love music, sports, the arts (including the very special art… of saving money). I don't know if I love a brand, especially one that makes basic/ubiquitous kitchen items. I've had a couple of theirs, some are ok, others not, all of them overpriced at retail. Hard to call that love

      • +1

The Bunnings one is a plug as well, I have it currently. You just have to push it down to fully seal with the sink. So it feels pretty similar.

      • So a $3.10 strainer and a $2 plug is worse value than a "2 in 1" which costs more, and this deal is half price. Dude… I don't know what gen we're up to, but this is like gen ??? can't handle two items at once or something?

        • Edit; sorry I said "Dude", I wrote this comment not implying anything.
        • I never made any comment about the value prospect. I also didnt upvote the deal nor purchase the item. I merely replied to a comment about how two items were different based on their listed descriptions.

      it's made by OXO

  • +2

Be aware, bought it last time on Prime day, had to return it because my sinkhole is not deep enough. Check before buying it.

Another concern I had was the plastic part in the middle doesnt feel very durable, not sure how long it will last.

    • Same boat mate. I can't even find a sinkhole deep enough in 3 households.

      • find or purchase a 4th one!
saves you from returning it ;)

    • -1

      that's what she said

  • -2

how often are people using the plug function and what for, specifically?

    • +4

So you can fill up a sink with water for washing stuff/soaking stuff?

  • Surprised there is no warning right at the top of the advertisement saying: "Please measure your sink before purchasing". This probably only fits one in three sinks.
