      Per Wikipedia:

Independent media refers to any media, such as television, newspapers, or Internet-based publications, that is free of influence by government or corporate interests. The term has varied applications.

Perhaps you’re thinking of the word impartial?

I think CommuterPolluter is right. But thanks for the heads up about it being Catholic activist. Was thinking of subscribing but not any more.

I’m over Australian media. The Guardian ; my former goto) is really left wing, the ABC News is barely usable these days and has constant clickbait articles, the Age is only readable if you live in suburban Melbourne or like AFL, which leaves Murdoch mastheads which are all paywalled. The Australian seems readable and is fairly centred but has right wing opinion writers.

      • The Australian seems readable and is fairly centred but has right wing opinion writers.

The problem with the Australian is they too often present opinion as fact, they deliberately blur the line between what is factual and what is opinion.

Remember all those front-page articles that told deliberate lies, like "all those bushfires were deliberately lit", "the coral is fine on the Great Barrier Reef", and so on?

        • Yeah I think I agree, that has always been a problem with Murdoch media. I’m not interested in opinions (I come here and other forums for that).

  • I still think INKL a local company that does international news aggregation/curator is really worth a look. As they cut out thr clickbait. And at the bottom of each article they provide more links to other related stories on the topic.

there's no NewsCorp, so it's sources are more likely left leaning (Crikey, Guardian, ABC) , but it does push our articles from Financial Times, Daily Mirror, Reason. There's plenty of centrist news from IBT, Axios, Bangkok Post, AAP, BusinessWeek, Foreign Policy, Fortune, The Hindu, Chicago Tribune, etc

    here's a list of sources.

    • Oh yeah that’s interesting. Have had a look, looks like it shows a lot of local Aus news which is good. I find world news much more interesting so hopefully this covers world news well.
