Cashback is ineligible on purchase of gift cards and/or use of gift cards for payment.
Cashback is ineligible on purchases made via the retailer's mobile app.

eSIMs are eligible for cashback, but must be activated within 60 days of purchase.
Most retailers calculate cashback based on purchase amount excluding GST, other taxes, and delivery fees. Your cashback may report lower than expected due to this.
You must always return to TopCashback and click the pink cashback button through to the retailer's website for each new transaction. Ensure the TopCashback link is the last one used to visit the retailer's website prior to completing your purchase.

It doesn't look like for new customers only to me, but T&C also says "The existing customer rate will therefore apply to subsequent orders."
The wordings is a bit confusing.
    Could @tightarse please clarify, thanks.

    • subsequent orders

This means if you order it twice or more, not just 1 transaction.

Just use a new/different email and new number. No problem. Porting is a hassle, so better choose new number.

      • I heard that Lyca checks delivery address and ID/full name during activation for the purpose of defining new customers.

      • However, a user failed to activate the fourth sim card even though he used a different email and new number. Here is his comment. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/883524 (user: xers)

        • Yeah because Lyca has limit for each person that we cannot have too many numbers under our name. That's why xers used his wife's details.

So, the solution is use other people's details to activate the new sim card if you have reached your limit.

  • They sign you up for an auto recharge which does not show in your account, but when it comes the time of expiry it does not expire but bills you again. Very hard to get that payment refunded. I am still fighting with them for mine.

use disposable card mate, revolut, zip plenty options

      • How did you know you needed to use these options when you first dealt with them?

        • If you intend to not recharge, just use PayPal or virtual card for any purchases.

          • @neoleo: I used PayPal, checked that Auto Recharge was off on the web account - was still charged. Plenty of people were burnt before. Check other threads before negging.
What I am hinting on - you need to burn on these at least once in order to use these safer options. If you are an unsuspecting sucker like me in November - they will turn you over by recharge in a month time.

            • @Musiclover: 2 settings need to be off. Maybe you missed one. I didn't neg you.

Another thing that you could consider is maybe disable online payment for your card. Only enable it when you need online shopping. This can be done if your card has this setting such as NAB, Upbank, Wise for example.

              • @neoleo: I checked all settings on my web account, not just two. I also made sure no payment details were saved on my Lyca account, and yet they still charged me.

        • It says just before you enter your payment details.

We will use your selected method to pay automatically when your plan renews every month. You can change this option from your account settings any time later.

And also prior experience with anything that is subscription based but do not intend to renew.

          • @ronnknee: This is why I went into my Lyca web account and checked the Auto recharge was off, and yet they still charged me.

Use Paypal and cancel automatic payment in Paypal, no problem.

      Also after login Lyca Mobile:
Menu - Manage Payment. There are 2 options that need to be OFF:
Auto top-up setting: ensure this OFF
Auto renewal setting: set this OFF

      DONE. No problem for me.

      • Only in the app. No such options in the web account - it actually showed no recurring payments on mine.

        • +1

I have just checked login in a browser, not app. It's the same.

          Under "Manage Payment"
          Auto recharge settings: OFF
          Auto renewal setting: OFF

Just login in a browser is fine too.

          • @neoleo: Yes, mine was set to "OFF" but yet they still charged me. But apparently in the app it looks different (set to ON and you can switch it off).

            • @Musiclover: Maybe you only set 1 off. Just ensure both OFF. Remove card payment?

It's best to use Paypal if available. Otherwise virtual card from Wise/Revolut that can be deleted or one time use card from Revolut.

              • @neoleo: I used PayPal, checked that Auto Recharge was off on the web account - was still charged. Plenty of people were burnt before. Check other threads before negging.

                • @Musiclover: I didn't neg you. I don't like to neg and rarely neg anyone.

Just cancel automatic payment in PayPal.

    • Im confused…. I just activated the sim I bought in Nov and followed @neoleo 's instructions to turn off
      Auto recharge settings
      Auto renewal setting

I also have 0 saved cards - was yours 0? How can they charge you if both settings are OFF and 0 saved cards.

I tested the number and it's active so i should be ok

      • I always use PayPal, so Lyca doesn't have my card number. Just cancel automatic payment in Paypal for me with both auto recharge and auto renewal set to OFF.

This is true - same thing happened to me and the refund process is painful.

      • Same experience but I haven't applied for the refund yet. Just checking if your SIM card was not used when you asked for a refund. Unfortunately mine was still in my phone when it auto-renewed and has been used on the day.

        • I used mobile data after renewal date too - they tried to deny the refund twice on that basis. At the end they relented and cancelled the service - it'll take a week for me to receive payment.

  • @neoleo

Hey mate, keen to know your thoughts on this one. Reckon it's worth holding 3-4 months worth?

  • The comments for these deals are always a s***show. I am scared from trying them even if it is in profit

    • Just use Wise/Revolut virtual card if you are scared. Delete the virtual card for Wise, or only use one time virtual card from Revolut. No problem.

Another way is disable your card temporarily and only enable it when you need to pay with the card.

In my opinion, everyone should have at least Wise or Revolut for online payment and only use the virtual cards, delete, and repeat for any online shopping ;-)

If Apple/Google Pay is available for any online shopping, this is also good as merchants don't know our real card number.

Bank cards from ING bank, Westpac, St. George bank etc. that have CVV number change every time for shopping has a weakness that recurring payment could still go through. This is why Wise/Revolut is better for online shopping.

i still have some untracked purchases with TCB, won't use them until they are cleared.

    • I guess most of cashback problems were from desktop or Apple devices, yes? More settings need to be changed for Apple devices too in order to ensure cashback tracking success.

I have android phones, ipad and windows laptop. I only use chrome mobile browser in my android phone for most cashback transactions. Exception is Topcashback US that I deliberately use Edge mobile browser in my android phone, but need to change a lot of settings in the browser to ensure cashback tracking success. Very easy with Chrome mobile browser.

      • thanks mate. i use chrome with a laptop. fewer problems with SB and CR, almost 50% failure with TCB..

        • Maybe try Chrome portable app without any extensions for cashback transactions purpose and other safety concern.

          https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/google_chrome_portabl…

So, you'll have 2 different Chrome browsers ;-)

In the browser Settings - Privacy and Security, make sure:
✓ Third party cookies are allowed
✓ Send a "Do Not Track" request OFF
✓ Use secure DNS: Automatic or OFF. If we put NextDNS etc. in this, tracking will fail.

If your router has ad blocking feature or NextDNS etc. in the router settings, just use your phone to tether data to laptop. Make sure any adblocker apps are disabled when you want to make transactions with cashback. Other browser extensions could also affect tracking. That's why I recommend Chrome mobile browser as it doesn't have extension.

Same issue here; not tracked yet from the deal from 5 Nov. I went through the TCB App and it got missed. Go figure…

      • Next time just use Chrome mobile browser in android phone. I haven't tried my ipad nor my windows laptop for cashback transactions.

If using Paypal, just login Paypal in the browser first, then Topcashback website in the browser and start purchasing.

If using iphone/ipad/MacBook, there are many settings that need to be changed for successful tracking especially settings for Safari.

If using Windows laptop, ensure no adblocker and any extensions are active before purchasing. Or install another browser just for cashback transactions such as Chrome Portable but don't put any extensions.
