  • I have got 2 already from previous deals. Maybe need to cancel 1 number to make it work. Max 4 numbers in Lyca Mobile account? Other people mentioned 2 previously. I only use new numbers for Lyca Mobile as it's not worth for porting with the hassle.

Strangest thing just happenned to me. I used one of the cashback deals previously, and it just ticked over a month of usage. My paypal account was billed for the same amount as the last time again! Previously I doublechecked and could not see any recurring plans anywhere on my lyca account neither could I see any payment details saved. I tried calling Lyca and some annoying arrogant customer support stated that I already used the plan thus ineligable for refund. This should not be relevant. I started a dispute on Paypal, but it takes several weeks.
Was anyone able to resolve it?

    • I used CC and removed it from the account later. So far, no 2nd payment, but it is due today.

      • It never saved my CC details, but I paid via Paypal.

Did you manually turn off auto renew int he app after activating? I did and was not charged for the 2nd month.

      • +1

I have not installed the app. I have just logged into my Lyca account on their website (which should give me the same access, shouldn't it?). There was no auto renew enabled there.

        • +3

It's enabled by default when you first activate the sim. You have to manually turn it off. Alternatively since you paid by PayPal you could also just turn off automatic payments to Lyca in your PayPal settings.

          • @xers: I've turned off auto-renewal in the app and received a confirmation text message from Lycamobile that we have stopped your auto renewal for the plan. Then when I went back to check it inside the app, Auto-renewal was still showing ON.

There is an auto-renewal setting that should work

        • I think it takes a day or two to update in the website. You can also remove your payment method as well.

    • This happened to me too. Just call their support and they immediately refund it to you. No need to dispute via PayPal.

    • +1

I was also charged for the second month despite turning all recurring options off. I had to fight CS for a refund which took a while to resolve.

I have never had an account with them other than this one.

  • How did people go porting a number and getting cb last time ?

    • 60 days has not passed, so no cb received yet.

      • Looks like wont be confirmed until 3/2/2025

  • +3

Mine from early Nov deal has NOT even arrived yet 🤣 even after contacting them twice, idk wtf is happening but with Boost has never skipped a beat
That was the first time ordering Lyca ever. Prolly and the last!

    • Why not try eSIM with new number? No eSIM in any of your phones? Old and new phones.

      • People had trouble with eSims too. Personally I went with physical sim because Lyca seems to have terrible technical implementation so I simply didn't trust them to not stuff up eSim.

      • I’m not too well versed in multiple eSIMs plus wih physical i think it’s easier to track which has been used and which hasn’t for registration farming purposes…

    • Same. Never received the sim so ended up doing chargeback on the cc

  • FYI lyca mobile no longer works with a majority of phones outside of samsung and iphone, I have a motorolla edge 50 neo and both their esim and normal sims do not work along with my other phone. Best to check their list of phones that work with them.

    • This is weird. The phone is sold locally.

    • +1

I have a motorolla g54 bought from Amaysim, and it works fine with an lyca esim.

      • well i have a g54 too and it wont work with it, is this currently your sim? because i was told this just a few days ago and its been refusing to work with my g54.

        • I used it last month and bought a new eSIM this morning. Both work well. How did you add it? I activated it first and scanned the QR code with the camera without any errors.

        • I just activated a Lyca eSIM that I bought on November 30 on my g54 today and it worked.
          1. On phone: Add SIM -> Set up an eSIM -> Scan QR code -> Turn "Use SIM" on
          2. On "Activate your SIM" webpage: enter PUK CODE and last 4 digits of ICCID and whatever else they ask for to complete activation.

  • Is the definition of a new Lyca customer meaning a new email and a new mob. no.?

    • I personally haven’t used same email twice but the TCB post suggests lyca treats new customers as a combination of email and / or mobile and the final decision will be at the discretion of Lyca. May be try using the dot method with gmail - just to make the email unique and get a new number.

      • +2

Thanks. Yeah the “final decision will be at the discretion of Lyca“ worries me as they can go by KYC details.

Similar to other people's experience, I ordered the SIM on 12Nov & till yesterday still hasn't arrived even though I live in metro Melbourne. I did call customer service twice & both times they said they will resolve it eg resend it again urgently but obviously they were just trying to get you off the phone & passing the buck to someone else. I've since asked for a refund which I hope they don't stuff up as well. Given all the other issues with Lyca, order at your own risk

  • How do you keep logged into their mobile app? It wants the passcode everytime when trying to log, bit annoying.

  • +5

Lyca mobile is like back to stone age

  • Anyone successfully ordered and activated an eSIM from Lyca before?

If so, would love to hear how you did it and what the process was… thanks.

    • +1

Hi, try https://registration.lycamobile.com.au/en/activate-sim, using the PUK CODE and ICCID in the esim email (above QR code), it works for me, cheers

      • Thank you @lovesheepseafood!

So after you used the online process to activate the eSIM (using PUK and ICCID) and upload your ID docs, the eSIM on your phone then became active?

Do you remember how long it took after activating online for the eSIM to become active?

        • +1

Yes, it was like in seconds, if not, just switch on and off the Aeroplane mode, and you will receive a SMS on the Lyca sim

  • +2

For activating the esim, I first scanned the QR code, it always shows activating, then I found https://registration.lycamobile.com.au/en/activate-sim ; tried with the PUK CODE and ICCID in the esim email (above QR code), it works!

  • Does the Lyca app make anyone else log in to it every single time you open it?

  • How many cashback transactions can I make? Shopback T&C said we can make multiple

Is this max 2 Lyca numbers per registered ID or per email?

    • I bought 3 (using different emails) with TCB and was able to activate all of them using my drivers licence. Bought 1 from this deal this morning and was unable to activate even with a different ID document (passport). Ended up having to use my wife's ID to activate.

      • That’s concerning

      • Under same shopback account?

        • Same topcashback account. Only bought 1 with shopback.

          • @xers: I thought topcashback was new customer only. Does anyone know if this is based on the details you give them when ordering or the ID you give when activating?
I'm slightly worried if I buy this and use same details to buy or activate it could cancel the cashback from my recent order via topcashback.
(still going to buy, just using another family member's details)

            edit: found this
Customer status (new or existing) for Lyca Mobile generally entails a new mobile number and/or email address. Lyca Mobile has sole discretion on determining status and acting upon fraudulent and/or excessive transactions as they deem necessary.

…so I'm guessing that the same person ordering a sensible number under different email addresses and always choosing new number is probably ok (??)

    • It's better to just buy 1 today. If you never buy this, still better just buy 1 as the subsequent purchase may be calculated much lower for the cashback. If you got 1 already previously not today, you can buy 1 today (best for new number, not porting).

  • +2

Does this need to be activated within 30 days? Their eSIM activation is an absolute bi$&h!

    • Topcashback says 60 days. So, not sure about this. It's best within 30 days maybe.

    • Activate within 60 days.

  • Their website seems kinda clunky (gave an error when activating the sim, but still got the confirmation email) - but overall managed to buy an activate an esim within a few mins.
    - Bought sim, selected eSim
    - Scan QR in email
    - Grab PUK & code from email, enter into https://registration.lycamobile.com.au/en/activate-sim
    - during activation you can select existing or new number

    Hopefully shopback comes through!

    • shopback tracked now

  • +1

    Ordered: 10.45am
    Tracked 11.08am

Second order with Lycamobile - used a different email/payment card this time though just in case

  • Damn it didn't track for me today.

  • trying to read the T&C, there's no time limit to activate the SIM card ?

  • Reached maximum number of registrations…

  • ordered one. it didn't accept payment by coles MC directly but added to paypal then paid through.

  • Be careful. I still have not received my sim which I place early Nov.
