Oh this is perfect! I've been looking for something like this to easily plug in when viewing NVRs during installs.

Looks like Mini HDMI though…… would need an adaptor and looks to be USB C powered? It doesn't say 100%.

    • +2

Usually they support video over USB-C for a single cable connection.

If you use the HDMI, you still need to supply power through one of the USB-C port.
It should include a HDMI to mini-HDMI cable

      • Thanks, something I'll keep in mine. It's better than lugging around an IEC and a 24-inch monitor with a stand. Just really bulky and annoying.

    • +1

Mini HDMI and they usually include a Mini HDMI to HDMI cable anyway. It's USB-C powered too. If your NVR has a single USB port and you're not using a mouse a USB-A to C cables would be enough to power it. Sometimes you'll need a proper USB charger if you want maximum brightness.

Where is the AliExpress more cheaper comment 😝

      AliExpress more cheaper comment

This one is a surprisingly good deal actually, I've been following portable monitor prices on AliExpress for most of this year and the cheapest I've been able to get this model on AliExpress was USD $119 (which was approx AUD $179 at the time, but with the updated exchange rate is now around AUD $187) delivered, including GST (with sale discount codes).

So this Amazon deal is actually cheaper than typical AliExpress discount prices.

      • Have you been following portable monitors under 17"? Anyone recommendations for MacBook Air 13" as a companion when out and about?

        • +3

Sorry, I should've been more specific: I was following portable gaming monitor prices, so for me I was only looking at monitors with a refresh rate of 120Hz or higher.

Generally speaking, I recommend you look for monitors that deliver a 99% or 100% DCI-P3 gamut, that is usually a sign that they have reasonably good colour reproduction and image quality.

I'd say it for other brands. Uperfect are the high end brand for portable monitors.

What PSU does this need unbelievable the lack of information .

    • +1

      I got 17' version and I'm using 30w powerbank.

      works perfectly

      • cannot be powered via USB-C?

        • +4

It is powered by USB C

        • +1

It can be powered via USB-C

    • +4

These monitors come with a USB C power supply, or you can use your own one if you want. 30W charger to be on the safe side, though in most cases 20W or 25W should work fine too. Your laptop should be able to both supply video and power via the one USB C cable, but be warned that bigger screens like this 18.5" model can draw a fair amount of power if you have it on high brightness, around 12-15W or so.

Some phones can deliver this amount of power, but many cannot, and it will drain your battery real fast. Some phones/laptops will limit the amount of power delivered which limits your max brightness, so you may have to deliver power via the second USB C port to achieve the maximum brightness.

  • Anyone got a link for a screen protector for these monitors ?

Have one that’s around 16” at 2k resolution from Uperfect. Very handy device for the odd times I need an extra display alongside my laptop or if I need to hook something up to my headless home server to fix up some bios settings.

  • not getting that price…instead only the $71 coupon. And yes I'm a prime member

  • Can I connect it to an iPad Pro and get both power and the video out via a single USB-C cable?

  • will this 18.5" monitor easy to be carried inside a laptop back pack?

    • +2

It's 16.2 inches x 10.1 inches = 41 cm x 26cm, so it's big. It'll only fit the bigger backpacks, you'd have to measure yours to make sure.

Personally I think anything bigger than a 16" portable monitor becomes too unwieldy to carry in a backpack or commute with regularly, I would only use such big monitors in a semi-permanent desk setup at home or in the office (typically VESA-mounted).

  • Shows $299 pre-coupon for me

  • +5

Got prime but still shows $299.99 for 120Hz model. Missing something?
Btw the touch screen one at good price I guess - $197.99

    • +1

Thanks, made me order the touch screen even though I don’t need it

  • +1

dont think, just hit order, cancel later if you dont like.

  • Show 197$ for me

  • +1

Already have 2 16 inch 2k portable monitors and IDK why I just ordered the touch screen variant mentioned by Ozsaver88 for $197.99

  • Show $299 to me.. after $71 it’s $228

  • can this be rotated to view vertically?

    • +1

      According to the pictures, yes.

    • Yes, for Windows at least, there is a setting and you can change any input on whether it is vertical or horizontal.

  • Man, the price got updated just as I was checking out while changing payment details. Sadge.

  • Anyone know if the difference between the 120hz model and the Touch model is just the touch functionality? Thanks

  • +2

Alternatively you can get this monitor 17.3", 2560x1440 resolution for $182 (AU $219.99, 17% off with code DCMBR17 eBay plus):

    Thanks OP and Ozsaver88.

I have been looking at smaller portable monitors but wanted something bigger. Got the touch screen one which arrived yesterday. While it is only 1080p, it still great for the size and doesn’t hammer the laptop.
The build quality is as good as a Microsoft Surface Tablet, if not better.
Screen is too big to be carried around but great as I move around the house WFH with the kids playing in different rooms of the house.
Touch screen is very responsive and great for GIS Maps etc.
Colours are great but screen is very glossy.
Menu controls are fiddly. Hopefully it is set and forget.
I am not using external power and just powering through USB C from my laptop using the supplied cable.
It came with 2x USB C to USB C, 1x USB C to USB A, 1x USB C to HDMI and a charger.
Instructions say it can be used in Landscape with touch controls but touch controls are not available when in portrait mode.
Also has inbuilt speakers which as slightly better than my work laptop speakers.
