Samsung A35 Locked or Not Locked and Circles Life

Daughter is getting a Samsung a35 as part of her Xmas and which was purchased from Telstra online.
As it’s a gift do you guys know when you buy these if they are locked the phone I think was close to $400 but got less with points.

I was thinking going with circles life I think it’s $10 a month which is using a code and I think 6gb I believe but not sure if this network would work on the phone?
I would think so the price I paid on the phone I should be able to use who I like.
Not even sure how good they are in my area circles life how can I find out? As I could use this for 12 months unless you can point me to a better deal.

  Phones sold by Telstra as prepaid mobiles are locked to Telstra.

  All non prepaid mobiles are unlocked.

    Yes I got this one paid outright so it’s unlocked?
    If so that circles deal should be a good option for her at $10 per month.
    All I need to know is what coverage it’s like. But I believe this deal is on for a bit maybe I’m best to wait after she gets phone and we set it up if unlocked for sure.

  The coverage will be the same as any other provider that uses the Optus 4g network. e.g. amaysim, coles, catch, optus if you've ever used them

  Its not hard to see if a phone is locked. SIMs are cheap. Put it in. See if it works.

  Or, just ask Telstra. They might even offer you a deal to stay with them.
