Thanks OP, amazing price even by Ozbargain method of coles/aldi 1kg dishwasher powder $3.90@40grams a wash @ ~15.6c a serve of powder. I'm sure I go over my 40gram allowance when the kids are yelling and I have anxiety shakes 😂

Aldi powder is horrendous these days. Leaves a white powder on all plastics. Not the same as what it once was

      • +1

Bosch Serie 8: Eco 45c + IntensiveZone + Extra Dry never had an issue with Aldi or Coles powder. Rinse aid on level 6. Used 2-3 times a day since purchased in 2021. Try increased temp?

        • +3

It seems like a false economy if you need to bump up the water temperature to compensate for the cheaper tablets. The energy cost to heat up the water is surely more expensive.

          • @Tyrx: … bump up from 45C? That's incredibly standard and not "hot" or notably increased at all

            • -1

@DiscountForThee: The standard is 30C and as a general rule of thumb every 10C increase from that point doubles the total energy consumption of the wash. With electricity prices it is very likely that you are costing yourself more per wash if you're bumping the temperature up to compensate for poor detergent performance.

      • Likely a user error

        • +2

Yeah nah, see hundreds of other people reporting the same issue due to change of formulation: https://www.choice.com.au/products/home-and-living/kitchen/d…

It used to be really good, now it’s sheyt

          • @antik: I've absolutely been using it since at least some of those claims of changing the formula. It has not been any worse and runs fabulously. My experience is that usually people really do not know how to operate dishwashers (although some people may have older machines which could not be running as well as some of the newer ones)

            • @DiscountForThee: Formulation has 100% changed, it’s not lack of how to operate a dishwasher. I’ve tested it in 3 different dishwashers and plastics come out with white powder on them in all dishwashers. Does not occur with Finish powerball tablets. All 3 dishwashers are 2-3 years old and are regularly cleaned. Only started happening roughly 6-9 months ago with the Aldi powder. Saying this, glass and ceramic comes out great, it’s just plastics which are left with a white powder which needs to be wiped away with a towel

              • @antik: That sounds annoying, sorry to hear it's been performing badly for you and others

                • +1

@DiscountForThee: Here’s what is looks like on my plastic protein shaker lids, left has powdery residue due to Aldi powder, right is a Finish tablet: https://imgur.com/a/j0v1rnt

I posted on reddit asking what the issue was and everyone suggested a different powder or tablet.

Apparently the Woolies “Shine” powder is really good, similar price to Aldi

                  • @antik: Interesting! I've not experienced anything like that before with any powder - but thanks for the suggestion for the Woolies one

"Last Ones Left" is in the description. Pretty self explanatory.

Hi all, I don't recommend these at all.

I picked up 4 boxes of these in the last deal

They leave an oily residue on your glasses and crockery.

I've tried bumping up to two tablets per wash and also the 3.5 hr wash cycle on the Bosch series 8.

You're better off buying the more expensive finish ultimates with the power and water you would have save

I was lucky enough to got rid of the remaining boxes through a private seller
