Note this is not the Premium Edition. It is PS4 and PS5 in a bundle. PS4 version is not available to purchase individually it seems.

they gotta milk it before they release gta 6
$15 for each version is fine, but considering there's no cross gen play, I don't know who the bundle is for in 202
45, you've surely already got it on PS4 and if you don't but you have a PS5, then buying the PS4 version is no real help in any way. The cynic in me says they wanna see if they can cram GTA 5 to 200 million sales before GTA 6 drops, and would naturally count this as two sales.
Won't downvote, but pretty sure this was $15 when I bought it a few years ago
It's a bundle. That's like $15 each.
The PS5/Series versions of GTA 5 are sold in two parts. Part one, GTA Online, is what you need to play anything. It's 30, but has been 15 countless times. Part two, Story Mode, is the campaign of GTA 5, this is also 30 and also on sale all the time.
When the new versions dropped, GTA Online was a free download on PS5 (via PS+ I believe) and Story Mode was available for an additional 15$ at launch.
Yeah thats not a bundle, it's just the same game in 2 versions. More so its the same game with the update patch for PS5.
Oh, right.
It's two different versions.
The PS4 version can obviously run on PS5 under back compat, but the PS5 version has ray tracing, smoother FPS, and some other minor tweaks. In addition, they can't play with each other online, which is garbage, sure, but it further shows their difference.
Get it from JB HiFi for $19 PS4 Premium Edition- https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/playstation-4-grand-theft…
PS5 - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/playstation-5-grand-theft…
PS4 version can be used on PS5 as well (I know no graphics update on PS5 unless using PS5 version)
The PSN version in the deal has both PS4 and PS5 versions included.
Not really sure who it's for. I own both versions (on both consoles) and funnily enough, I haven't gone back to the Xbox One version since the Series version dropped.
Only thing I can think of is trophy hunting but if you are spending extra $10 for an inferior version and playing through it again to clear a digital to do list for a virtual trophy….
I have all three plats of the game, but I grinded out the online shit once on the PS3 (and for XP, I was AFK racing while I slept), sent it to PS4 and never touched online again, then sent it to Series X bc I had XBL Gold at the time, then contacted support and got it rolled back, and sent it over to PS5 to pop the plat a third time.
I would rather have no trophies at all than grind out what GTA Online has become. Godspeed to anyone who does it genuinely twice, or thrice.
@TheDukeOfNukem: Why would you go through so much trouble for it? Genuinely curious. We live in an age where there are so many amazing games to experience (even after eliminating bad to average ones) and not enough time.
Did you enjoy the process so much over experiencing new games or is it because you know what you are getting into if you replay it thus being a safer option?
@azngamer: The original 2013 version, I was in like year 11 or so, went to the midnight launch, my then girlfriend was with me and her mom was gonna pick us up. I had to get her to get the game at midnight 01 in the end because the dude wouldn't give it over, I say this because I was like 17 and had all the time in the world to play GTA.
Even still I didn't platinum it. I played it, enjoyed it, and left. GTA Online didn't really interest me either, it was fine (a LOT better then tbh) but eh. When they announced the PS4 version, I scooped it up day one. I don't remember specifics, but they said that you would be able to transfer your online progress to PS4. At some point prior to it's release, I went back into GTA Online on PS3 and grinded out the MP trophies. I was a bit of a trophy whore in the day. I don't remember it being too bad back then, survival wave 10 with an IRL friend, win a bunch of races and shit, nothing crazy. Taped down my R2 button and did a bunch of AFK races overnight while I slept for level 100 XP, that's about all I remember. I didn't put in a tonne of effort is the point.
Then it went to PS4 and popped there. I did 100% the single player game twice though, BUT GTA 5's 100% completion isn't really 100%, there's plenty of shit you don't have to do for the trophy, which is stupid tbh, but it's true.
Ever since they brought in Director Mode, that's all I do in the game. I don't play it much, haven't for years, but when I do, it's super jump, no cops, crash a jet engine into the MAZE bank tower, and repeat.
Anyway, I had a fair few years of Game Pass Ultimate for free (didn't we all?) by the time the next next gen version dropped and so I sent my Online progress to Xbox. I hadn't had PS+ in years by that point, but in the lead up, they gave you $500k every month if you signed in so I got a friend to sign me in once every month and I got like eight mill or so. This was just enough to buy the flying Delorean, the only reason to play online, and that was cool for 10 minutes.
Then I ran out of Xbox Gold in early Jan this year and couldn't be (profanity) buying more, never used online anyway. So it sat there doing nothing.
The other day I bought the GTA trilogy on PS4 on disc at JB to prove a point to a moron friend who keeps complaining about them, yet, spent 47 bucks recently on a single PC copy of San Andreas (long story), and have recently been playing through GTA 3 again (again), I saw in the menu that there was a free play weekend on PSN and finally bothered to message Rockstar support. After half a dozen or so messages they rolled back my progress from Xbox, back to being able to migrate anywhere, and then I migrated progress to PS5 which popped the trophies there for online and now I have a third platinum, albeit one I did literally nothing to achieve because it was all autopops from the PS4, which was half from the PS3 over 10 years ago no less.
I also platinum'd the PS5 version of Minecraft in that time, had an achievement world on my phone for the kiddo and via free PS+ online I could play with the phone on the PS5, so I jumped in and popped all the trophies too over like an hour or so while the baby slept.
I used to be a massive trophy whore, I'd play anything for easy trophies, I have plenty of hard platinums too, but I'd play shit for trophies like 10 years ago. I was in the top 100 of the country at one point. Couldn't care less now. I think it's a fun thing to do when you're a teen and have unlimited free time, but like, as an adult, I got better shit to do. I still platinum or 1000GS the odd game, probably a good dozen or so this year, and I will finish up GTA3 and Vice City's lists again on PS4 sometime too, but it's just games I actually want for the most part now and enjoy doing everything in. Like I got the 1000GS in Battlefront's rerelease collection, same in Dark Forces' rerelease (which is basically just beating the game to be fair), but I haven't gone for a platinum in forever. Even GTA3 on the back burner now I don't count as trying, I remember where most of the packages and shit are anyway, between every entry I've platinum'd / 1000GS'd over a dozen GTA games at this point.
Long story short, I was a (profanity) teenager with a lot of free time and these days I don't bother to platinum (profanity) all.
Fun fact though: The third version I've platinum'd of GTA 5, turned out to be my 333rd platinum, so that's cool I guess.
@azngamer: Holy (profanity), don't bother reading all that, that is so much more than I thought I'd babble, even for me.
For what it's worth, I finished pooping like 5 minutes ago and kept going with this, oof.
@TheDukeOfNukem: I saw the paragraph yesterday and I thought I was being lectured and closed ozbargain for another day.
Cool story?
@azngamer: Boring story, but no lecturing, I assure you.
Which is also part of the 2 FOR $30 game sale.
Also free on PS plus now.
