Same price at Google Store as well

    • Quite a difference in trade-in between Google and JB for my 7 pro 128GB: $500 vs $285

      • +3

        Google $500 or JB $500?

    • +14

Are you implying an iphone is better not factoring price? This must be a joke comment

      • You misunderstand. They/them meant: what a joke, I have….

    Bonus $125 gift card. Nice

    • Nice indeed. Anyone know how long the expiry would be on the gift cards?

  • Better buy 256GB for $1,597 and get a $125 GC

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/google-pixel-9-pro-xl-5g-…

    • 128 and 256gb both come with the GC

      • Ohk. I just got the email for 256GB so thought its only for 256gb

  • What about signing up for a contract and cancelling straight away? Is that still a good option?

    • I think thats all over. They're on to it now

I have been using this phone from Sept and really not impress with the camera! I felt I got scram, paid premium price but with very normal camera quality! Lol

I'm not OP, but I had issues with my camera. I got a replacement from google and its fixed now.

        • Hi! Just wondering did you buy from google or JB in order to be eligible for a google replacement?

          • +1

@mero mero: It won't matter, Google have replaced my 7P and 8P, both purchased from JB, refurbished obviously. But they charge you for the phone, hold the money until it gets picked up.

          • +1

@mero mero: I bought it from JB with the Telstra phone plan + cancellation dealleo

          What issues did it have?

          • @nfr: I'm not sure if links are allowed but here are an example of some shots.

I would say overall I'm quite happy with the device. I think the photos on my replacement are beautiful.

      It's that some new STD?

got the same phone. Now I'm back to my trusty S24U. I was travelling in Vietnam and had to use the camera a lot. The camera crashed most of the time while I was recording videos. After the October update it got worse. YMMV though but for me it's not worth the price. I wanted to love the phone but it's not trusty unfortunately.
By the way, not that it matters to Aussies but in Vietnam they make payment for foods and services by scanning a QR code that would take you straight to the payment page in the banking app with every details filled up. The problem is that this phone was struggle scanning the QR code. It took longer than other phones and it failed more time than I would expect. Again, YMMV

      • +1

Been using since launch. Never encountered these issues.

        • Because you haven't been to Vietnam ?

          • +6

@Murkymerv: Cameras only crash in Vietnam, got it.

            • -3

@aupleb: So that was the only problem according to trantonz , maybe you need to re-read his reply , Got it !

  • Leaving the country next week, I wonder if the JB inside Sydney International Terminal has the same deal (discount + gc + TRS).

    • +5

Why wait till the airport to buy at that JB though? You can buy now and just do the TRS part when you're at the Airport, not the actual purchase

      • -2

Correct me if wrong - buying at the JB inside will take care of TRS and therefore no need to line up in the TRS office?

        • +2

Usually the stores inside airport don't have the same deals and excluded from offers

    • They should have the deal but no guarantee that they will have the stock available on the day.

    • Just remember that:

If you bring goods back into Australia for which a GST refund via the TRS has been claimed, the goods must be declared, and if the value of those goods (combined with any other overseas/duty free purchases) exceeds the passenger concession allowance, any applicable GST and/or duty may need to be paid unless another concession (example, all personal clothing – except furs) is available.

$1500 "On Special!" for a smart phone that will disappoint when the battery swells up and pushes the screen off, which has happened for the 3rd time with a pixel phone for me, at least this time my pixel 7's screen survived, the pixel 1 & 2's screens were destroyed.

Bought a second hand Nokia G22 for $170 in mint condition to get me by till I can get the Pixel evaluated for repair, the G22 has a user replaceable battery! going to keep using the Nokia regardless as I've noticed NO difference in performance and while using a USB-C cable to transfer the settings from the pixel to the Nokia all the default apps that are normally not available for non google devices transferred … stuff paying big bucks for what for me, a retired pauper cannot any longer afford to replace! AND will let me down!

    • +1

      Wow, you're cursed!
I've had multiple Pixels and Nexus and never had this happen. I'm sure I'm not alone.

        • I never said it doesn't happen. Of course it does.
          I'm talking about 3 times.

          • @McFly: I keep my stuff till it fails, you people who constantly buy new things don't own those things long enough to find out, none of them lasted 2 yrs, live in the tropics and my phone is also my internet access … so I figure a Pixel aint for me no more!

            • @Series4Episode10: I pass stuff down to my family members, so keep phones for a while.
The Nexus, IIRC I changed case and screen and upgraded when it really fell apart.
My youngest now has my Pixel 5, must be at least 3 years old by now (the phone that is!)
The battery doesn't keep charge like it used do of course, but it hasn't puffed up.

      • OH … Had the last Nexus made, it had an endemic hardware issue that bricked it when updates were installed, there was a class action for buyers in the US seeking compensation, pursuants received a payment of $11.33 each

Being an IT tech and having worked for a company that had the contract to repair and upgrqade Nokia phones back in the day I worked out from reading about the problem that freezing the phone before starting the update might work … a chip that did the work of processing the update was over-driven and would overheat during the update process, when it crashed only having done half the update, the OS was toast and unbootable, unless you did some changes before starting the update which allowed side loading the OS and update after the "bricking" … fortunately my experiment worked.

  • Argh didn't see this should have come with a gift card as well when I bought one in store today. What are the chances they give me one if I ring em up?

    • Very high…

    • Give me all the details and I'd be happy to check for you.

      • All good. Just went back today and they sorted it out. Was easier than I expected.

  • No more gift card. That expired last night
