And before all the questions start - there's no mention of needing to activate in the special terms.

If you're worried about it take a screenshot.

    • Just to clarify, does that mean that I can purchase multiple of these and use them back to back?

Did this earlier as I needed to pick up a sim for an international traveller. Tracked straight away even on the discounted price in case anyone is wondering

Waaaay too late to the game. Most people have their renewals in November. I can’t hop over if they’re trying to win business and new customers

    • Interesting, how did you find out most people renew in Novenber?

That's when the black friday deals are

        • What were the sim deals for bf

        • There's boxing day and EOFY sales too.

  • new sign ups only.

does this mean for people who have used optus in the past, they cannot use it?

  • can we combine with ANZ plus cash rewards offer ?

  • will this work on esim purchase? seems you need to purchase it via optus app

    • No. I tried it and didn’t work.

  • Just be careful with expectations of cashback. Mine did not get tracked even though did every step start to end without Pauses. No ad blockers used.

    • I bought the recent 1 year deal & it tracked within minutes. I always use Chrome on my laptop.

    • Mine didn't track during BF but to Cash rewards credit they sorted it manually and promptly

As of 3 days ago, SingTel are still randomly network banning people with "non compliant" 4G phones:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/australia/comments/1gj3qyr/comment/…

If you are switching to them and don't mind having your service randomly cut off one day, try a cheap SIM for a few days before handing over big dollars for a long term pre-paid plan that you may not be able to use

    • You make it sound as though they're still banning random models but I'm pretty sure it's the same ones as when the 3G shutdown started.

That's the point, you have NFI whether your service will be crippled at any given time with Optus

Telstra Wholesale have a Blocked Device Checker:

        https://www.telstrawholesale.com.au/3G-Network-Closure-Block…

SingTel prefers to keep Australians in the dark, hide behind foreign call centres and only get serious for the 0.1% who bring up a TIO case

      • I think the issue is it's imei based not phone based and no one has a true answer for what will work as even if your phone meets 4g spec it could get blocked.

        I might be wrong though.

"Please note we are currently experiencing a high amount of enquiries coming through. A member of our team will be in touch within 10 business days "

Still waiting for my cashback from april. Well past the 100 days

    • Likewise waiting for a cashback, that I know now will never come as I gave up and switched to another carrier, and never again.

Floptus. Never again, once I moved to them, I kept having people not being able to dial my number. Optus palmed me off and said wasn't there problem.

Nevermind the fact that my personal data was out in the sphere.

  • Terrible company, honestly worst reception as well.

    • Reception is actually better than Telstra where I live so I guess it depends on your location.

  • Buyer beware… this offer is not for eSIM purchase.

  • Just went over my cashrewards history and realised they failed to track my last amazim SIM. This is the first time I've had an in-App purchase fail I guess cashrewards has turned to garbage as well. Make sure you check tracking works even if you use their app, they won't want to hear from you if you wait too long.
