I'm the only one to think Destination Fd from Ozzyman?

    • +1

      No

    • I did. I can imagine those beedy eyes and hat on the pizza box.

  • +9

Anyone tried them hows the base? That's usually my issue on frozen pizzas always a rubbish base.

    • +9

I actually had it today and really enjoyed it. On the smaller size but once cooked, you wouldn't know it was frozen

    • +12

The crust is better than any frozen thing I've had, it's got that bubbly thing going on.

      • awesome thanks

      • Better than Aldi woodfired and Dr. Oetker?

I don't agree that $5.50 is expensive for a pizza.

        • +3

          You just contradicted yourself

            • +6

              @ohgee: “ that's still expensive pizza”
followed by “ Sure it isn't expensive but overpriced”
              😜

@ohgee: The great pizza comments on ozbargain debate😝

Bruh. When was the last time you made pizza for 5.50 at home lol?

On a side note, the ingredients look pretty standard. Nothing too crazy in terms of additives or preservatives

          • -5

            @darque: Every time.

            • +5

@ohgee: Gonna need a full breakdown of your ingredients and costs.

Anything less than this required evidence and your point is irrelevant and wrong.

Feel free to post photos of receipts and affidavit including JP signature etc

              • +1

@Quantico: You could absolutely make this pizza for $5.50 at home, assuming you already have the ingredients and don't have to buy them in bulk.

              • +3

Don't think these are marketed towards the DIY/time rich crowd.

    • I got what you meant.

  • +1

Still waiting for their gelatos to go on half price

  • really made in Italy ?

    • -1

      Yes

      • Not by Italians though - as I understand it

  • +1

Rate these pizzas. Excellent value at this price.

Truffled Mushroom Sauce (3.8%) […,Truffle (3%) (Tuber Aestivum Vitt.), …]

They put a 0.114% ingredient at first in name…

    • +10

Truffle has really strong flavour. Too much and you will kill the dish. It becomes really unpalatable.

      • 100%. That sounds about right for what I'd want from truffle. It's OK but not something I go after

    • +1

That looks like real truffle to me, unlike 99% of the truffle out there that's fake, like what you get in hamburgers and fries. Really nasty stuff apparently.

    • +1

Wait till you learn about saffron….

The Margherita one is the best frozen pizza I’ve ever tried.

Crust comes out great and the sauce is authentic.

  • How are these compared to the harris farm non-frozen pizzas?

    • Just tried Destination Italy for the first time today, and it's better than HF. More flavour and better base.

And if you've tried the 400 Gradi ones, I'd say 400 Gradi is better.

Tried this the last time they went on sale. Also thought the same, surely it can't be that bad for a made in Italy pizza. But I was so wrong. Base was too thick and tasted like cupboard, and topping was maybe like about half of what was on the packaging.

    • +2

These aren't your traditional Aussie pizzas.

They are what you get in Italy, minimal topping and excellent base, using very good ingredients for everything.

      • So no pineapples on my pizza?

    • +3

Base was too thick and tasted like cupboard

I wonder what a cupboard tastes like..

  • Tried these the last time they were on special and was pleasantly surprised. Frozen pizza bases are usually really doughy and not very nice. This one is actually good.

The toppings are a little sparse but taste good. The only potential issue for me is the use of truffle oil, which contains trace amounts of truffle at the very best. It's artificially flavoured and may turn some people off.

Anyway, I'll be buying a few at half price. The usual $11 price is ridiculous.

  • It was $9 for the last few weeks until they jacked it up to $11 last week to then add it to the "half" price sale nonsense. Classic Coles bullshit

    • +2

Great pizza though. Best frozen pizza in my opinion by a country mile

    • It's been as low as $4.50, I though they were discontinuing them or something.

      $5.50 is a good price, even $8.

      $11 is just silly.

      • $11 is just silly

Supermarkets are creating silly prices so they can still do 50% deals.

Woolworths and Coles have jacked up their home brand soy milk 1L to $2 from $1.15 earlier this year (then went to $1.45). Woolworths Organic soy milk is also $2 (used to be $1.60). Someone is really taking the piss at HQ.

        • Coles just jacked their light sparkling water from $1.15 last week to $1.80.

  • +1

ALDI have italian made frozen pizzas too. I love that we've reached a point where we can get cheap frozen Italian pizzas in Australia.

    • Before anyone else says it, yes I do make pizzas at home using my Ooni almost weekly, but occasionally if it's just me I'll chuck a single frozen pizza in the oven as it's so much easier.

  • +1

LOL, all cleared out at my local Coles

  • Shocked to see all flavours completely depleted at two Coles’ in Brisbane!

Damn we should have said they tasted like shit.

    • Check the app, if it says still available, they probably have it out back.

My nearest store had heaps, another one a little further, had only one pizza left.

  • My Coles had just one left, I’ll give it a try. Hopefully it wasn’t a customer reject
