My weekend trip to Bali on the comparable policy was still much cheaper with TravelInsuranceDirect at full price.. and its usually pretty easy to pick up 10% off codes for them too. Thanks anyway tho.

  • Several credit card policies include free travel insurance if you purchase the travel using the credit card. I've found this much better value than actually purchasing separate travel insurance.

Technically you don't own that insurance policy though, the credit card company does. You are only a beneficiary under the policy. This may or may not suit your needs, always read the PDS and relevant T&C's.

I realise ozbargain is full of cheap arses, but the point of insurance is to cover your arse.

  • Just compared TID and Insure and Go's Gold because I need travel insurance for my 4 week trip overseas.

Even though in some areas I might get I higher claim cover eg; Personal Liability on I&G is $5000 compared to TID's $2500. TID works out cheaper since they cover everything and their claim cover is still really good.

    $129.46 from I&G (10% Discount)
    $102.60 from TID (10% Discount)

If I added Wintersport cover, I&G comes to $258.91, TID cover this as standard

Its good to check other companies to see their prices but I'll probably book with TID

  • For me these guys are excellent. I'll have to read their policy though. Going to Phuket over easter. The only other company what will cover me for Factor 5 (which is a blood condition so I have no choice but to ensure I'm covered otherwise anything medical can be denied) is SCTI. SCTI is $200. This is $100.

Just need to compare policies (the devil is in the detail).
