[Switch] Bonus Trade in Value for Switch Games (in-Store Only) @ EB Games

100

Walked in to do a click and collect and asked about promos going on for trade ins. I am very close to level 3 and they brought this board out but the bonus is only applicable on switch games.

15% extra if you trade 3
20% extra if you trade 4
And
25% extra if you trade 5 or more.

The above slab can be stacked with existing eb world games level and Eb Plus.

There is no end date so I think it can be withdrawn any time.

Nice to know thanks! I wonder what sort of trade in value most switch games have, $20ish?Or am I being too optimistic

    • +2

      $10
$5 for the case, $5 for the cartridge

    • Probably for first party or OOP/LP games… I have no idea why anyone would do that tho. lol

I asked them the same question, but they were neck-deep in packing stuff (the outcome of their Mad Monday sale). However, they were still very cheerful and gave me a vague idea that premium titles can get anywhere between $25-$30, e.g., Mario Odyssey, Luigi Mansion 3, etc., and other ported games like Assasins Creed Black Flag Collection can be around $15.
I am going in today with 7 of my switch games and will post back what I eventually managed to score after trade in.

    • I don't know if it was just on the backend as part of the computer's way of rounding up and balancing the books, but whenever I did the 'trade 2 games for 1 upcoming pre-order' deal they were ringing in at ~36 bucks. (Emio and Luigi's Mansion 2 as of the crusty old receipt I still have in my wallet from the last one I did)

Trading in games is the biggest laziness tax. Can get proper value if you just sell them yourself on marketplace/ebay/etc.

    • +4

      Agreed.

The trade in 2 games for a new game is pretty much the only trade-in deal really worth considering. And even that's only if you can trade in 2 games of relatively lower value for it.

I agree but I had a couple of bad experiences selling stuff via the marketplace. Probably I am a magnet that attracts fartbook *holes but on previous occasions they have been aggressive and threatened to follow me to my home because they allegedly believed that I had sold them a dud and wanted the money back and as an inconvenience will not return the stuff or just plainly refused to pay me and try to take it from me. This is also one of the few reasons that I leave other stuff outside of my house and let my neighbors in my estate know that they can pick it up for free and not try to make any money out of it.

      • Agreed. My experiences with FB Marketplace and Scumtree haven't been of the highest quality. eBay used to be a great option but their fees have gotten ridiculous for the occasional seller. Trading in is a rip-off in general but if you can get a semi- decent deal like this one, it can save a lot of hassle.

      • It is a skill that you need to build up.
Luckily my early bad experiences werent as bad as yours, which provided me the motivation to keep trying. But i know what you mean cause all my friends feel the same about private sales.

With the time n effort i spent, i basically played all the first party games, for free, and made money from them to buy some indie games.

Of course the time and effort is not just for switch/games, its anything you want to sell.

I've dealt with rude/impolite buyers but not to what you have experienced! I also don't sell anything of high value and find this is when these kind of people come out. Are you only selling games or other high end items like electronics/car parts by any chance?

In my opinion, the biggest drawback of using Facebook is that people can act/behave the way they do because there are no serious repercussions. It feels like the wild west sometimes - even when buying. Reporting it to Facebook does nothing and they can simply open a new profile anonymously. Whilst eBay is still great for buyers, it's the sellers that suffer. My main eBay sellers account is over 20 years old and I used to regularly sell on eBay until I almost stopped entirely a few years back. The increase in scammers and dishonest people trying to get the item for free or wanting some kind of reimbursement got too much for me (increased sellers fees don't help either).

I dread having to sell things now and procrastinate for weeks on end deciding on which platform I am least likely to get scammed on whilst getting the most for my item. I end up donating more often than I would like because I don't think the annoyances are worth the amount I will likely get for the item after dealing with low-ballers, scammers or fees if selling online.

As promised - this is what I got quoted at the store -
        1. Luigis Mansion 3 = $27
        2. Mario Odyssey = $27
        3. Mario 3d World/Bowser Fury= $32.40
        4. Zelda BOTW: = $33.75
        5. Assasins Creed Black flag collection = $21.60
        6. Animal Cossing= $32.40
This includes 25% extra and 10% level 2 bonus

I honestly don't find ebay worth it anymore with their fees approaching 20%.

  • What the trade in value for a OLED switch these days

    • call EB Games and ask

  • Is there a list of games that are offered under the "free with 2 trade ins"?

    • +1

Usually if you ask the shop keeper, they show you the list/ images on their screen.

I’m aware of these switch games being offered for ‘free’ when trading 2 eligible games (ps5, xsex, switch).

      • xenoblade chronicles x: definitive edition
      • donkey kong country: returns hd
      • +1

        Ah thanks

yeah I saw DKHD but couldn't be arsed browsing every switch game to find out if it was available for trade-in

Wish it was easier to find
