Comments on past deals indicate this TV is good for gaming, not so much for watching sports.

@BartholemewH: How is it? I was deciding between it and the comparable Hisense 65. Other brands are just not competitive in this price range.
paid ~1k for the 50" model ….so yes, seeing this price hurts but old tv had an unexpected collision with aTV remote via 2 year old and needed to be replaced. Operating system is snappy but we primarily use aTV. TV is good enough for most people I would expect. We have a bright room so apparently miniLED is a better option. The 855 is better but more dollaroos.
Paying 1k for a 50" TCL is considered a criminal offence around here

I am tempted, but seeing the 55" C755 was ~$800 with 10% back in gift cards (at HN no less) not long ago makes it difficult to pull the trigger..

The C755 would be a lot better choice and undoubtedly come on sale again at sometime for not much more.
Hmmm…$800 is a lot more money than $625 at this price range of TVs (28% more). Is the C755 really 28% better than the C745?
Fair point (although i might argue $625 vs ~$750 depending on how you valued the store credit). Might depend on proposed use, how long you intend to keep it, etc, as well.
Genuine dilemma for me currently. The in-laws have a 42 inch, 10 year old Samsung at the moment. This will be a HUGE upgrade. Will they notice any difference whatsoever between C745 and C755 given what they're used to? I'm inclined to think not really - they watch only FTA TV. I think I might just nab this for them after thinking for a few more hours.
@AlbiesDad: In that situation I think I would just grab this (c745). Generalising obviously, but I don't think they will notice much of a difference. Even the c655 might be ok for them if it is on special.
