  • Why should one pay $180 extra for this

    • +1

Purists that take gaming very seriously and have deep pockets. Probably a bit of "keeping up with the Jones's" as well.
I'd only buy one for the paddles but obviously too expensive for just that.
The PS4 had a PlayStation paddle kit for next to nothing but as soon as other retailers started making very expensive PlayStation compatible controllers, Sony jumped on the bandwagon.

    • I'd grab a LE one like Horizon or God of War or something, but they did that dumb God of War DualSense which sold for almost the same as an Edge and I lost interest

Nowadays if you want to be at the top of the leaderboard in competitive shooters, you kinda need a pro controller*. Having the ability to move, jump/crouch, aim and shoot in one fluid motion without a single finger doing double duty is a huge advantage.
My COD k/d went from 1.4 to 2.7 on average since I started using pro controllers.
*I wouldn't really consider this a pro controller, it's lackluster.

Mind you, if you have poor tactics, and situational awareness, a pro controller likely will not help in any meaningful way

    • maybe it has some special ability to make you win in games
200$ a controller is breaking my balls

Half the console - when on sale

  • +6

It is mind boggling how expensive this controller is at full price. Astonishing.

  • +5

$260 is the discounted price? Does it make me coffee in the morning?

    • +1

      only if you play hard

    • Depends how well you performed the night before

  • Any reason these controllers are this expensive?

    • No special reason except you price what people will pay and in comparison to what else is on the market. .

    • +1

Because there are seemingly enough people who are willing to pay the price. In a sane world, this would not be leaving the shelves or warehouses.

    • Same reason beats headphones, people tend to associate quality with price.

Apparently these might also have the stick drift issue some controllers have, and finding the replacement parts it's really hard.

  • Curious how many hours a week people gaming?

    • Depends on employment and the pressure from that employer

      • Thanks

      Before getting married: 20-40 hours/week
      After getting married: 8-16 hours/week
      After kids: 0-2.5 hours/week

      • Thanks

    • One week i could play 20 to 30 hours. But i can also go weeks without gaming.

On average i would say 3 or 4 hours though. But not gaming at all for a few weeks is pretty common for me between games.

      • Thanks

      • About the same here

        • Thanks

    • 42 hours a day 563 days a year.

I'll bite at half the RRP.

  • +1

It’s been out for a while so it is lacking. Hall of effect, micro buttons, more back paddles, just name a few

  • +2

I’d like to get one but I’m wanting under $200

Hall Effect would of made it much more respectable seeing it has a high RRP

Normal Dualsense can be had for $69/79 on sale

  • Where to get the 30th anniversary versions?

    • Nowhere unless you’re happy to pay a scalper on eBay

  • The drift on the normal one would make you pay 80 for a new controller. New one might get drift as well.

I believe on this one you can replace the stick and get done with it
